    It's possible that your laptop's BIOS is hard-coded to work with only "approved" panels. I had a similar issue with an older Dell Inspiron. Bought a third-party panel to replace a defective one. It wouldn't work, even though it was the exact same panel type. I had to get a "Dell approved"...

    The GTX260 will fit in the Antec 300. I have an 8800GTX (10.6" in length) installed in an Antec 300 in the downstairs PC. You won't be able to install a hard disk in one of the slots, but you have 5 additional mounting slots for hard disks.

    I have done the same thing. I still keep my CDs in two megachangers, because it's more convenient to store them there (instead of in jewel cases). Only time I take them out is for use in the wife's car occasionally.

    It's hard to make sound judgment without knowing the ambient temp in your room, but my idle temps are slightly lower than yours, by a couple of degrees. Those load temps are at least 10C higher than what I get running Prime95. Could be an airflow problem in your case.

    I'm using the stock cooler...temps are reasonable and the card is pretty quiet when it's not under load.

    The GTX260 will fit in the P183, no problem. I have a GTX285 (which is longer than the 260), and it fits just fine. You may have to remove the upper drive cage, as the poster above mentioned. [edit] I should mention that I have the P180, but the internal dimensions are the same as the P183.

    Battery things...do you mean the capacitors? If they have blown, then yes, the motherboard is dead. As far as replacing it, you can call Dell to see how much it costs to replace it (assuming it is out of warranty). Depending on how much Dell charges, it may make more sense to buy a new system...
