As far as I know, all nec dvd+r based drives (cendyne, verbatim, HP, dell oem, etc.) automatically set the booktype to dvd-rom upon burning. +RW on the other hand, requires flashing a certain HP firmware to the drive before you can change it.

The controller chip isn't everything you know. The DACs on the card play a HUGE part in the quality of the sound coming out of the card. I wouldn't buy this until seeing how its drivers and dacs compare to the revo.
Just want to let people know, don't expect to be running at low latencies even at 400mhz ddr. it's my understanding that while hynix chips can go higher than winbond, winbond can go pretty high and at cas2-2.5.

Well, I don't think verbatim even makes a dvd-rw drive, but it is listed on the $40 rebate which leads me to believe that OM is just stupid and pays no attention to the actual format. You'll be able to use the rebate. If you didn't it would be false advertising. Better ask mysticman to be sure...
