PCMCIA vs Cardbus - whats the diff?

Whats the difference between the two? Does a USB 2.0 PCMCIA card work as advertised? I only have USB 1.0 on my laptop and need the 480 Mps transfer rate.

Lots of water vapor coming from exhaust pipe...

What you are looking for is a 2 port KVM switch. There are tons on the market and major ones are good products. I have had good experience with the IO Gear 2 port KVM switch.

Can you OC a Celeron?

Indeed. My cheap Toshiba laptop has a 1.5 Ghz Celeron with 256k of L2 cache and it clearly beats (crunching Seti WU's) a desktop 2.6-2.7 Ghz with 128k of L2.

i875 Chipset Fans

The adhesive that comes with it is fine. Don't spend more more than the actual heatsink just to get the Artic Silver name, like I did. Matter of fact, if somebody was selling Lamborghini Silver adhesive that day, Im sure I would have bought it since it "has to be better". grr

need some networking advice please

It sounds like it should work in theory. Go into the web setup of the router and disable the routing feature turning it into a switch essentially. That way, the ICS configuration on the ME machine should issue IPs to the other computers and improve web access.

POLL: do you have your case fans blowing in or out?

Take a look at the pitch of the fan blades. That should give you a good idea of the rotation the fan will make, assuming that the air is first drawn over the clean or non wired side of the fan to the back or 'wired side'. The little directional arrows are helpful and I don't remember seeing...

To answer your question, PC2700 or PC3200 from Crucial, OCZ, Geil, Kingston, Samsung, or other quality name, would work fine for your system.

Trouble with lappy and home network

With your laptop hooked into your network, check what the IP is. If its a APIPA (169.254.xx.xx) then your laptop has not picked up an IP from the router assuming you are set to pick up one automatically. Are you running any type of software firewall? If so, you may want to disable it until...

HELP - BIOS abit is7-g !

The bios is stored in a chip on the motherboard. Flashing the bios means just installing another instruction set to a fixed chip. Abit makes it really easy. Go Here for a bit of help on how to do it

40GB Diamondmax plus8 size being reported incorrectly?
