Vantec Stealth 470W or Thermaltake Xaser 480W?

I have a Thermaltake PSU and it is great. No problems here. I heard that Vantecs can get louder when things heat up.

Which of these 2 video cards would you pick?

Because NVidia is hyping people with telling them about their new chips. Also, with the fact that they released optimised drivers for the 3DMark 2k3 and ATI did not (GF FXultra). that is kinda weird. Anyway, I am stopping because this could become a war.

Achieve Power Supplies; any good?

wow... that is kinda cheap. hmmm...... Never trust a unknown, cheap PSU as it can ruin all the components in your Computer.

What video card to get, and newbie computer builder help.

If you have a boxed processor/ Heatsink combo, the thermal compound is already attached to the bottom of the Heat sink. Be careful with the Intel heatsink as I am not sure if the new version for your processor happens to have a protective cover over the compound or not. The version the 2.4B...

Which drive is better? A 80GB 8MB Cache Maxtor or the 8MB Cache SE Western Digital Drive?

the seek times are only <1 millisecond different. If you make the WD as quiet as the maxtor, the maxtor will be faster.

or you could use Intel Application Accelerator to change the Acoustic Noise Management on the drive. It only works with intel chipsets that are Pentium 4 chipsets. Sorry if you don't have that.

Is 1024MB ram better than 512MB for gaming?

Alot of these games require so much because the companies do not necessarilly like to clean up the code. If companies cleaned it up, we wouldn't have to use as much ram, however we would still need alot of ram.

There is such a thing as the Radeon 9800 Pro. Don't go NVidia. I don't like them. ATI has been in the game much longer. Plus their 9800 and 9700 are great. The 9700 had been out for a while before the FX Ultra was tested against it. They rated about the same. With the new drivers that ATI...

Yes, the Western Digitals are faster on seek rates, however, they are louder. That can be fixed though. D/L Intel Application Accelerator. That will fix the IDE contorller Bottleneck when using the Microsoft driver and it will allow you to change the acoustic noise management on the Hard...
