I've got a doctor who is upgrading to a proper server. it will be used almost exculsively for medical apps (electronic charts, scheduling, billing). I was wondering if an SSD makes sense in this application. I have already adapted SSDs to all of my personal systems. So I feel comfortable using...
A couple of months ago I bought 2 4G modems from Verizon, one of each kind. Everything was great the first month or so. I couldn't have been more pleased. I even commented on them here. Well ... I was soooooo wrong! These things will NOT keep a connection! They will even say connected in the VZ...
I just thought I'd throw out some numbers for Verizon's new LTE service. I've had the opportunity to use both the LG and the Pantech modems. So far, the Pantech is giving better numbers. I'm averaging 10.3mb with it. The LG is only giving 6.9. I know this whole technology is brand new, so my...
Whenever an opportunity to do a complete install presents itself, I take it. Yes, it is more work, but it gives you a chance to fix issues or to make changes that a system image can't provide. This all assumes you have the program disks and such.
It's all about pride. If you say you just purchased a new Alienware PC, everyone knows you dropped a serious amount of cash. Therefore, making you seem better off than most. Maybe it isn't pride. Maybe it is conceit. That's just my thought.
All I know is my Vertex 2 increased my system performance enough to delay a complete rebuild. I think it is money well spent. Once you do decide to build a new system, transfer the Vertex 2 to it.
You wouldn't believe how much an SSD can do for an older machine. I put a cheap 40gb Intel SSD in my aging laptop and I was amazed at the difference. It felt like a new computer. If I were buying an SSD now, I would go with the OCZ Vertex 2.
I recommend OCZ's Vertex 2. I would wait until early next year though. Sandforce will be releasing it's new controller, which is faster. Although, it is hard for me to comprehend something being faster than my Vertex 2 with the Sandforce 1500 controller. My SSD was the best money I've spent on a...
The Vertex 2 has exceeded all my expectations. I would wait for the new Sandforce controller though. It should be out early next year. I'll be replacing my laptop drive with one.
AVG Free
Glary Utilities
Ccleaner
Secunia
Microsoft Baseline Security Analyzer
The great thing about all of these is that their free!
The most important thing is to use them all regularly.
I agree with most of these guys, True Crypt is awesome. I use it on my back up external hard drives and usb flash drives. I really like using it on usb flash drives. If I lose it, I don't have to worry about some one getting access to the data.
You might check into the Revo x2, there is an article here on Anandtech about it. One concern is motherboad compatibility. I would suggest going to OCZ's site and read through some of the threads about the original Revo drive. Maybe the Revo x2 is more compatible with various boards...
Before you buy the Revo's, make sure to go to OCZ's site to get the instructions on how to set them up. It's a very detailed exercise. If you don't follow the instructions, they will make you want to consider suicide. I agree you will be much better of with the Vertex 2. It's stupid fast and...
