Regardless of how long ago it was first posted, ATi agrees with me ;). Any modification of code in a synthetic benchmark is cheating. And they're going to take the 'optimizations' out of the next set of drivers, even though there's already a patch that makes them ineffective :D What more could...

ATI R390 before R400 or R500?

AFAIK the next ATi chip to be shipped is R360, a respun R350 with higher clocks, probably something around 425/450. Just enough to take back the lead ;) And we'll be hearing more about it in June. Loci/R390/R420 is/are the NV40 Killer(s), so don't expect too much more about them until near...

Soft modding Red or Black PCB 9500 into 9500 pro. Is it possible?

That was one way to do the mod, but then a couple of people found a way to do it purely in the drivers, hence the SoftMod.

Yes, it can be done. Exactly the same way as the 9500-->9700 mod. Which you'll get depends on the layout of the card (L-RAM or Straight RAM).

NV35 Benchmarks

Agabooga, nVidia's not offering any real competition to the 9700/9700Pro @ ~$200-250, though GFFX5800 prices should drop quite a bit after the NV35 starts shipping I wouldn't expect it to drop that much. But, wait a month or so, and ATi might be announcing a new card to better combat NV35 ...
