Cool, attack the messenger instead of the message. I am a gaming nerd and if trying to flame me makes you feel better go ahead.
Adjusting the colors doesn't do enough to fix that washed out look and did I mention anything about ghosting? Most LCDs have low enough response time so you'll never...
 give me a break. I have a LCD and a CRT and CRTs are 10x better for gaming than LCDs. The only people who say LCDs are better are casual gamers who spend more time on internet forums and who refuse to acknowledge their expensive LCD isn't really that much better than a cheapo CRT
LCDs...
Alienware is overpriced crap. Save your money and build the computer yourself. It's not hard and there are a lot of guides online that give you advice on how to put together a computer. You could price all those components for a lot less than what alienware is giving you.
I was considering waiting because btx is coming out this year and so is PCI-express but they probably won't hit mainstream for a couple years. So I'm going to build a completely new system in june or july and then upgrade again in a couple years.
I think the industry is slowly working to make lcds with lower response times but they still haven't fixed the contrast problems. Ghosting isn't really any issue anymore but lcds still can't compete with crts for contrast which is why I don't own one yet.
I have a Performance 600 Gateway and the heatsink fan is extremely loud and high pitched. I want to swap that out and at the same time upgrade the processor to maybe a 1 ghz. Is it possible to do this or does Gateway use special components and a standard heatsinks/fans won't fit?

I'm buying that case and I think it fits all of your requirements. It's built exactly like the Xaser III but isn't ugly.

The only complaint people have with the Lite On drives is that they're loud not that they're cheaply made. What other design features are you talking about? From what I've read and my friends have told me, all have Lite On drives...
nolovenohope I feel the same exact way. It took me forever to finally settle on a black atx case that didn't have a cheap looking sliding door on the front, a plastic window, or ugly lights on the front. I hope this new case ricing fad dies out soon.
Funny, I'm putting together a high-end gaming computer too and I have the exact same components as you except for the mobo (Abit IC7-G) and processor (P4 2.4C).
Ok, well thanks for the help on the first question. So if I connect them to the PSU then I should get a fan speed controller or fans that comes with a temp probe? I'm pretty much set on getting either corsair or geil memory.
I've decided to buy this board (by the end of the summer) over the Asus P4C800 but I have some questions.
1. Is it a good idea to hook up the fans to the mobo or directly off the PSU? I haven't chosen fans yet so I don't know if they'll draw a lot of power or not.
2. Will Geil Golden Dragon...
