Very basic questions - mods can delete if wrong spot.

Was going to build new system, but any vid card I wanted kept selling out and prices going nuts. On a whim I bought an Acer on sale as it had a rx 580. Now I am not finding any info on what I bought. The box was not even accurate on what expansions were possible. I bought...

What do you expect from the GTX680?

I can't respond to this poll, as the op has assumed a nv win. After reading kyle's comments - looks like maybe amd wins at high res. This would explain the unprecedented amount of leaks for nvidia around this launch. Just setting the table to try and define what a win is.

Yes should be very exciting. My prediction is the gtx680 will be approximately 11% faster, but likely will be major wars about optimized drivers and image quality.

This has certainly been an exciting launch. Amd started it off with by all accounts a very nice card. Overclocks well, etc. Nvidia is late, but their in house net presence has suggested their second tier card will beat the 7970 by 20%. As stated a major upset - that if true, likely means...

[AMD] 6990 is World's Fastest Video Card, Nvidia lying about the 590, the slower card

Nvidia has had a hard go with fermi. The title of fastest card has eluded them. At least this time around they can attempt to claim a tie, but not much consolation. Anyways their always excellent pr campaign with a 3d push will guarantee they sell many cards.

Just read kyle. Looks like yet another less than interesting launch. Quiet but slow and hot. Didn't even win the single card performance championship. Still this is from the guy with 1 1080p monitor and has no need for any of these dual monsters.

He also said it feels much smoother than a single 580, which comes to me as a huge surprise. Actually none of this makes much sense. Money wasted to produce heat and noise, just to play console ports. But than maybe I am just sour having only space for 1 monitor, unless I remove the furnace.

Crysis 2 benched with a 8800GT, GTX 260, 460, 560 Ti, 570 and the 580

Isn't this just a dx9 port? I am sure every card will play nice, but seems yesterday to use these benches in making a buying choice.

Have an azuntech meridian 7.1 that won't play nice with Windows 7. Any ideas on a replacement card? Analog 5.1 out and good recording of old vinyl are my priorities. edit: ok I admit to watching movies also.

Thanks for the laugh. Kyle is brutal to all comers, but many don't like how he doesn't differentiate between 60fps and 90fps. He just can't seem to see the difference when playing a game.

Read Kyle and was disappointed. Yet another card with 6870 type performance. Nice for those not already owning a card of that caliber - if the price is right. Anyways I am sure nv pr will something to hype out of this overpriced mediocrity.

Decided to return XFX 6950 unopened

As I said, it depends on how much you want to spend and what is important to you. 2 budget vid cards in one case may not appeal to some people. Really if you are not running a high resolution, why would you even want 2 cards?

Certainly depends on your angle of approach. Having spent at least $1000 (likely much more, but don't really like to think about it), + 40 or so a month to connect - I think my vid card can be up to $300 without a big impact. So in that range I pick the one I like best and live with it for at...

gtx570vs6970vs6950vs5870 all overclocked review> gtx570 wins

No kidding! Why I quit reading Driver Heaven reviews. Every card tested gets good frame rates at the selected settings/games. They need to work the cards like kyle - than we can see where the difference is and if we care. To test these new cards, you need a high res monitor or 3.
