HDD Erase wont see the drives unless you set the motherboard settings to IDE. I want to perform a secure erase so I can get their performance back.
I try and reformat my computer every 6 months and Im two months overdue.
Its based on advice I was given on the first page of this thread.
I am so fed up with the garbage that I am receiving from these drives that I just want to curse and scream.
Anyway, it is time for me to reformat my system and I need to perform a secure erase and I need to know the PROPER way to do it because I just cannot under any circumstances get HDD...
I dont mean to resurrect an old thread, but I want to know if any of the problems have been solved.
Does TRIM work on SSD RAID 0?
Do the latest Intel drivers work?
you should be ok, but I wouldn't bet my life on it. I know its fine for RAID 1. Ive done that on a few occasions.
What chipset is it? IF it is a recent Intel chipset you should be ok.
I would back up your can't lose work if I were you though.
Here is another question:
Cant you hook up a...
I can't get secure erase to work on my system. I set it to IDE mode and everything. No dice. I get a message about it being locked by the BIOS.
I have the ASRock X58 Extreme 3.
Im not one to do those sort of things.
If Im going to reinstall Windows I figure I might as well do it from scratch with a full blown format. COpying stuff back over to me leads to more problems. I just back stuff up like my documents folder as well as saved games.
One thing tech support DID say was that you should never image an SSD since it disaligns the partition.
The guy did sound like he knew what he was talking about. I didn't have to define any terms and was able to get fairly technical.
Yet, I still feel like there is more I could be doing.
I called tech support and they said that the latest firmware does indeed have garbage collection when the drive is idle. They say as long as I leave the computer idle every so often that garbage collection will kick in.
Im not sure.

That is what I have. Two of these in RAID 0.
I have an Intel X58 chipset and both of my drives running in the main controller.
I posted this question in another thread but felt it was worth its own after thinking a split second longer because I am just overwhelmed with all the information out there.
Anyway:
Right now I have my two Crucial M225 256 GBs running in RAID 0. I left 105 Gb of that RAID unallocated since...
Right now I have my two Crucial M225 256 GBs running in RAID 0. I left 105 Gb of that RAID unallocated since that was the advice I was given.
My question is:
What are some programs I can run to help maintain the performance of the drives since I can't use TRIM while in RAID mode?
What is...
My receiver is one of the best in business. Pioneer VSX-1020 It fully supports HDMI audio and can even pass a 3D signal through it.
I get full lossless audio when watching bluray. :D
Thats the thing. There aren't really any instructions that explain how it works. I wasn't under the impression that you could get audio out of DVI to HDMI.
Ok,
Im a little confused. I have a Geforce GTX 460 in SLI and the box says that it can bitstream audio using the HDMI output.
My question is will this bitstream all of the sound to my receiver? Right now I have my computer hooked up to my receiver using a DVI to HDMI port while running...
Its kind of a shame that the 5870s and 5850s are still overpriced right now. They need a good $100 knocked off of both of them.
I think we were all spoiled by the $200 and $300 cost of the 4850 and 4870s back in the day.
At this time everyone is recommending a new PSU and you really should go with that for now and wait for a sale and get an even better deal on a video card. If you want a new video card for SC2 then I would recommend spending a little money now for a new PSU (at least 550W from a reputable...
