help with maxtor harddrives!!!!

Would you consider a 2x raptor raid 1 backed up to a single raptor and archived to cd (at some point) ~ "backing up"... :D (I hate tape) Yes! I agree... you screw it up? You still have "important stuff" on it?... Back it up... (to anything)... I have no answers & I have no sympathy for ya...

RAID 0 is slower with small files (audio samples)?

raid 0 will give you a boost with smaller files although (as the previous post said) larger files is where it's really noticed... 5x raptor single drive (boot), 2x raid 0 (projects), 2x raid 1 (backup = I hate tape)... It's pretty nice...

Are you wanting to start something here? It's not enough to just accept the fact that I'm right. A Storage forum would be the right thing to do... READ my post dude... Better yet..... Why the hell have different topics? Why don't we all just come to a big SEEEEAAAARRRRCH button when you enter...

Why no STORAGE forum??

General and Tech support are too (forgive me) 'general'... I don't want to spend 30 minutes sifting thru 4 pages of posts on why someone can't burn something to CD before I get to something having to do with a "major" specific piece of hardware... Hard drives / controlers / motherboards / video...

Just wondering... (the General hardware isn't the place for HD's / controlers, ATA, SATA, SCSI, CDs, Optical, Tape...) couldn't one of the low thread count forums be renamed? thx

WD RAPTOR (retail) Turn your SIIG 2ch SATA into RAID!

I'm not going opteron for a while... (maybe 2-3 years) I'm not going back to high-mhz. single cpu systems... What's a power hungry guy to think of my aging mpx platform? Intel? I'd rather not... I'd rather see a new MP"x" chipset from AMD... Dual channel ram, higher FSB, AGP 8x, SATA, etc...

Radeon 9xxx / pro mod into FireGL X1 ?

Radeon 9xxx / pro mod into FireGL X1 ?

Like the old GeForce2 to Quadro2 hack... Anyone ever heard of turning a Radeon 9xxx / pro card into a FireGL X1? or has anyone attempted this mod? Is it even possible?
