    You don't really need a macro for that. Use the worksheet function LEFT. It would look something like =LEFT(<cell with the full ID>, 17). Or if you don't want the ; at the start, =MID(<cell with the full ID>,2,16). VBA has the same functions if you want to do it with a macro.
