I would think it would degrade your performance since it is a slower grade of RAM. Unless of course you can run it at PC2700 speeds.
I have 2 sticks of 256Mb PC2100 that I'm running at PC2700 (at Cas 2, 5-2-2 timings no less. GAT = F1 DDRVoltage is 2.8v)

what are your voltage settings for cpu and ddr? I am unstable at 3gigs with my 2.4B, but haven't bumped the voltages more than one notch. Good to fsb160 then it reboots during a benchmark. I would be curious how far you had to push...
Sorry if this is a dumb question, but where in CPUIZ 1.18 do you see if "Performance Mode" is on or not? I've looked through all the pages and see no mention of it.

I just got my IS7 and am running my 2.4B at 2.98Ghz with some el-cheapo CAS 2.5 PC2100 (ddr266) RAM with Samsung chips on it.
FSB/DDR speeds are both 166.
Took some tweaking to get it to run right, but it runs flawlessly now with the DDR at 166 CAS2 7-2-2 with the Refresh on Strengthened.
