monitoring HD temps - DTemp

using DTemp, for some reason it only shows me the temp of my IBM 60GXP drive and not the WD 200BB drive. can't even find a way to select drive. SpeedFan Charts tab - same. Everest report - same. looking at the SMART info, it appears that the IBM returns a value for an attribute called...

HDs for RAID - how identical should they be ?

really !? i'm surprised. i was sure i've read that the drives must be identical, RAID works better! i guess i was wrong! so i needn't worry about the (apparently) different chipsets.
