This source seems to have the answer to the issues I have been seeing,

Thanks for the help everyone.
I am thinking that speccy and open hardware monitor are the accurate temperatures. When unlocking the cpu to hexacore it is reported that you lose the ability to see CPU temperatures and both these programs no longer report a cpu temperature. Speed fan and the Asrock program continue to report...
Ok after some troubleshooting it may be that there something wrong with the software I am using to monitor my CPU temperatures. I have an Asrock Extreme 3 970 motherboard and the included ASrock Xtreme Tuner program reports my CPU Temperature at 54c. Speed fan also shows this temperature.
I...
Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I re installed the heatsink and am getting slightly better temperatures. Only getting up to 50c under load but still not as low as I would like. Is there any possibility that there is some defect in the heat sink? I have been thinking of exchanging it.
Thanks, I have seen this method before. The 212 looks a little different. I really couldn't see any space between the heat pipes but I will take it off and have another look. Any thoughts on the wiggle?
The coverage looked good but i am going to reinstall one more time to make sure. I did see where it was recommended to fill in the gaps between the heat pipes but I honestly did not see any gap.
Looking for some suggestions on what is going on with my setup. I have a Phenom II 960t with the 212+ and my temperatures are pretty high. I am idling at 40-42c and under load with prime95 it goes up to 58c+. My ambient temperature in my house is 25c. Motherboard temperature is 32c.
I have...
I am on a limited budget and am thinking of upgrading to this mobo/cpu combo from newegg.

The CPU is OEM and I am looking for a heatsink/fan to go with it. Plan to do some mild overclocking.
Looking at the heatsink/fans on newegg...
They had this coupon a couple months ago and I jumped on it then. I was in and out of the Lens Crafters in less then two minutes with my kit. The employees were like "We sell this for $20!" I really havent used it since then so I won't take advantage of this coupon but it is a great deal.
Been posted here a number of times, I assumed most people would already know of these retailers. But here ya go.
http://contents.fifthunit.com/html/products.5th/sku.705.html $1.75 + Shipping, came to a total of $3.20 for me.
Wow thanks for posting this, thanks to walmart and thanks to google for the autofill function of the google toolbar that let me sign up for practically all these in less then two minutes!
DVDs are encoded at 480p. Some DVD players can upconvert to HD resolution (720p, 1080i) and do it better then your TV will. This player does have HDMI out, but I am not sure as to the quality.
Got my card and just installed it. Was able to unlock the extra pipes and ran a couple tests of 3dmark05 without artifacts. Will have to do more extensive tests tommorow but looking great so far.
Thanks for the advice guys. I was looking to buy a whole cpu/mobo/pci-x video card but decided to just get this video card and try to hold off on the whole system upgrade. Would be great if the extra pipes unlocked!
$52.95 is the regular rate for 8800/768. You can get 6600/384 for $42.95, thats twice the download speed of DSL's $39.95 service for only $3 more. Comcast will be increasing the price for cable TV services this year, but internet will remain the same.
Yeah it really is tempting me, just worried about that rebate.
I also see the LT32HV for the same price but you get free shipping. Anyone know which is better? Looks like LT32HV has more inputs.
Its the same $200 rebate for both.
Looks like a nice deal if the rebate comes through, which I am not sure it will. Even though you are buying it on amazon it is shiped from and sold by Target. Most likely any invoice you get will be from Target, not from amazon.
Only Available thru HP Custom Computer Center. By Delivery Only. See Package for Rebate Information. Applicable Shipping & Handling not included in advertised price.
