Sunday GBA games deals

Advance Wars is awesome. That would be the only reason for me to get a GBA. Golden Sun seems pretty popular. Megaman Battle Network is very Pokemon-ish but it's fun too. Check the GameFAQs.com GBA message boards for what else is good.

Is there anything I can use to quiet my harddrive?

Whoa, neat site. Has anyone tried the quiet power supply units though? On my machine, the power supply makes as much noise as the CPU fan if not more (since it is pretty much outside).

Intel Wireless Gamepad, Mouse and Base Station Trio for $39.95

missing DVD drive

Don't forget about updating the BIOS. Example: If you are using an ASUS A7V board, you must update to version 1004 or above. Otherwise, Win2K and WinXP will not recognize any CD-ROMs on the secondary IDE. Weird but true since I spent a week on this problem.

CDROM Boot up, tried varios solutions.

Also make sure the BIOS is up to date. My A7V (the original A7V) would recognize the DVD-ROM and CD-RW but Win XP would not. Turns out that by updating the BIOS, it will automagically fix the problem.

Different volume for each application?

When I had Win98SE, I recall that I was able to have different volume for each application and even each instance. For example, I could run WinAmp and have it really loud but it does not affect anything in say Windows Media Player. Now I'm running XP Home and noticed that this doesn't really...

XP DVD-ROM/CD-RW not recognized

I'm having trouble getting XP Home Edition to recognize my Toshiba DVD-ROM and IOMega/Plextor CD-RW. When I run it in safe mode, both show up. But when I run it normally, they don't appear at all. Any attempt to try to add them as new hardware is met with failure. I've searched various forums...

Am I cracking enough keys for RC5?

I'm getting like 700 or so blocks daily. Does that seem low for one client which runs on a T-bird 800 MHz (not O/C'ed)? I assume the trick is to O/C? Or perhaps run clients on multiple computers? If so, is it just as easy to set up clients on other computers (i.e. just download, fill in e-mail...

Help with RC5?

I just installed the RC5 program and it's been crunching stuff but I think I musta missed something. It says it has 13 work units ready to go but I don't think it's sending it or anything. Also, I haven't gotten my password and I'm not listed on the distributed.net site stats. Suggestions?

Yeah, the monitor is good stuff. Heavy as hell, but that's typical of any 19" monitor. :) Love the auto-calibrate feature. Hate having to manually readjust the screen when I got to different modes and stuff.

Simple Tbird Socket A question

I was putting a heatsink on my new Tbird Socket A and noticed that there are 4 rubber "feet" on the top of the CPU. I assume that's normal. Question is: How does it conduct heat from the chip to the heatsink? It seems like they barely touch. Is there a better way to get more contact...

Booting computers

ausm: Hmmm... could be the RAM. Took me forever just to stick it in there. Fandu: No special beeps. Just the usual beep during boot up except no BIOS stuff. Actually, it doesn't beep sometimes. Eh, I'll probably take it all apart and do it again. :P Back to work... (grumble, grumble)

Advice on A7V+Casedge case and cooling?

I'm planning on getting an A7V mobo and I'm not too sure what I want to do for a case yet. I've heard lots about the InWin cases and that would be a good choice, but what about Casedge cases? How are they? How do they stack up to other cases? Is the A7V going to fit in the Casedge cases...
