Or you can just install XP, then let Linux do its thing. Distros like Debian\Mandrake come with excellent partitioning tools that work at install time, and will not kill your XP install.
Do a search in the hardware forum. Others have complained about the screen door effect. It doest seem to bother some people.
But I think someone above said something important, not all LCD's from the same brand\model are built equally. I and the others complaining about it might have a...
Arent we a bit pissy? This screen in my opinion is terrible. I have a Samsung 213T now and its considerably better. You have no clue what you're talking about when you say its not as sharp. The 213T is sharper and the screen door effect which drives me nuts is not there.
With all the wild speculations you guys are making, why not make a positive one?
Maybe they're trying to really kick start things again, and giving them away (kinda like CompUSA did for $150 a week ago or so)?
Or maybe they stole a shipment and are trying to get rid of them ASAP ;)?
Or...
I'm using a Geforce 5900.
there are lcd's out there that do not have the screen door effect. I know for a fact the Planars dont, though like someone mentioned above, the refresh rate is not that of the 2001FP. So when it comes down to it, you have to give up 2d quality to play 3d games, or...

Thanks for pointing it out! Was 25% off heheh. Though only the 20% coupon says it works on...
Wow what a perfect description for it! It looks like there's a screen door in front of my picture lol! Right on the nail. So nothing that can be done about that I take it?
Anyone played aorund with the "Advanced Timing" features on the Nvidia drivers?
Chad I did. It didnt make a difference on the background of windows etc. The black lines and matrix around the pixels are still visible.
I'm thinking that my eyes are just very sensitive. But even my friend with the Planar was a bit disgusted at the picture quality.
I'm using a BFG GeForce 4 5900 (128mb).
The problem i'm experience occurs especially when i scroll up and down, or load a new screen, i can see a matrix that refreshes.
moreover, when a window is just sitting there, i can see the pixels and lines accross.
maybe this is normal, but...
I purchased this LCD about 3 months ago, and could not be anymore disatisfied.
This is my 3rd 2001FP from Dell, almost all the other ones had over 5 dead pixels.
There is this NASTY shadow to every pixel. Looks almost like every pixel has a black edge, and you can see the matrix when you...
The problem...
We've got one guy comparing the 2001FP to a 21" CRT,
We've got one guy comparing the 2001FP to a 17" LCD,
We've got one guy comparing the 2001FP to a television set,
We've got one guy comparing the 2001FP to 6-10ms LCD panels.
The point is this. Of the 20+", even 19+" LCD...
Dell is starting to annoy me. I was the person who posted this hot deal. I ordered my 2001FP BEFORE i posted the deal (Thursday night last week), and my LCD has yet to ship. It still shows "in production." I call customer support and i get forwarded to New Delhi so they can call the central...
Welst10 confirms that this LCD panel (this batch) has 16ms response time.
This is a rebranded BenQ, I checked on the BenQ site, they only have 1 20.1 LCD panel and it has the exact specs as the Dell 2001FP, and 16 ms response time.
Thanks for the info Welst10!
I wouldnt bet on that. The larger the panel, the more apparent the ghosting. Compare two panels with 25 ms response time, a 19" and 23" and you will notice considerably more ghosting on the 23" panel, even though it has the same response time. This makes the comparison of two screens of...
I think my analysis leans towards the 2001fp from this current batch having 16ms response time. Though it is possible that it has 25ms. Please review post above.
I am in the US. CA actually.
I did some research concerning the response time on the Dell 2001FP.
As of last week the Dell website has not posted 16ms refresh time anymore. I knew from respectable articles that that the Dell 2001FP was a rebranded LG L2010P.
I proceded to go to the LG (USA) site (www.lgusa.com) and look...
Uhm all the respectable reviews i've read about the 213T stress that it has an aweful lot of ghosting compared to other LCD panels they have reviewed. This is a not a new comment about the 213T. Try looking up some respectable reviews.
I have the free shipping code. PM me if you need it!
