That is the SpeedStep technology. It will throttle up to 1.6GHz when the load demands it. If this is on a Dell Inspiron, search for SpeedSwitchXP to change the settings. That, or enable the "Always On" power configuration, which should keep it at 1.6GHz. Of course, if you do this you will...

Memtest Question for Inspiron 8600 Owners

I just got a new Inspiron 8600 and am running Memtest. For some reason the 512MB memory is showing up as: Memory: 511M 750MB/s Settings: Ram : 99MHz (DDR198) / CAS: 2.5-3-3-10 Since the 8600 has 2700 RAM, shouldn't I see 166MHz (DDR333)? Thanks.
