Overclocking your system shouldn't bother your hard drive at all unless you fry your whole system but it doesn't sound like it. If you download a lot of files on your computer the reason your losing your files is probably to viruses. My suggestions is take what files you want store them...
Routers are suppose to protect you from things like that. It's a hardware firewall that works a hundred times better then software firewall. It will stealth any computers attached to it.
Brand Names. Price. Looks + Style. If I were you I'd get the Sunbeam one. Be sure to look around the web for the cheapest one you can find though. Once at www.xoxide.com I saw a Rheobus like this one for $4.95.. It was only like an hour thing though!
Use Windows 98 SE. You've never heard anyone complain about Windows 98 SE. So many complaints on the newest OSes from Microsoft, but what do you except!
Hey,
I was wondering how many of you guys actually Price Comparsion? Like www.pricegrabber.com or www.dealtime.com? I look forward to seeing your responses!
I had almost the exact problem except I had a Geforce 4. In the end I found out that my Motherboard and Video Card were both fried. Really sucked... $500CAN gone right there!
Hey,
I'm trying to get an average of how long the life span of a video card normally is! Please post how long you've had yours!
Geforce 4 128MB -> Dead in 4 months!
Humm... How old is the motherboard? Some motherboards have jumper settings to protect you from overclocking. If removed or set wrong you may be more likely to fry your CPU! Good Luck! read the manual over good!
My suggestion is to water cool it. Drill some holes and hook your fan on the opposite side of the radiator and make it blow all the hot air out! You'll see a big difference.
My suggestion is do a complete format then try install Win Xp again. If problem consists then try installing another OS. If you get a problem installing that OS then you've probably got alot of bad sectors on your disk!
