It does do widescreen, but you have to make sure your DVD player is set to 16:9. Otherwise, you'll get a wimpy little 20" picture centered in the screen (with black bars all around).
I didn't try these with music, but I did try them with Call of Duty (for which they were awful - very tinny sounding and nooooooooo bass).
For music, though, it sure looks like everybody loves them!
