Building my first HTPC

The Sapphire card is based on ATI 550 chipset, it is supposed to provide Analog > Digital conversion with no loss in quality from the capture. I.e. your recorded material looks near live like feed quality. Using the HDTV Wonder + Sapphire card, I should be able to record 1 HD + 1 Analog or 2...

Thx alot for your help Apop it was your suggestion to reinstall it that ultimately narrowed down the problem... Is 41 deg. C for case temperature really that high? I thought it was still well within safe standards... If it is too high, I might have to add a front case fan then ;/

Yep no AC in house. I also only have 1 case fan+2 fans in PSU, I like my computer quiet :) I've let it sit for awhile... here are the normal use results: CPU 54 Case 41 Videocard 77

Well I guess I installed the VGA Silencer wrong. One of the screws last time was as tight as it could go, and the other screw went further, I didn't really think anything about it. so anyways I took it off, removed the supplied paste, reapplied Artic Silver. and this time, both screws went in...

the new Radeon 9800 PRO 256MB versions are XT versions with a PRO bios on it... flashing it wiht an XT bios gives you all the XT functions, including the Overdrive, and enabling the temperature diode :o

BTW should I have removed the shim that is around the chip? I left the shim on there, and put the paste and installed the card onto it. Also I did not over tighten the screws, it did it enough so that I can see that the VGA silencer didn't move when I tried to move it.

Granted its hot as hell right now... I just modded my 9800 pro 256mb, to 9800 xt and Overdrive is reporting it running at around 88-90 degrees, celcius whats the average temperate, or rather safe temperature for a video card to run at?

Volume settings and the nVidia Soundstorm mixer are connected to each other. They are turned all the way up on every single setting. And it also affects digital output. Is it possible that I might just have something defective in my XPC? Btw it does the same thing for both the REAR and FRONT...
