Look at Athlon FX51 game/use benchies and you'll get an idea of how an Opteron 148 will do since they are basically identical (FX51 just has an unlocked multiplier).
Note: You have to use Opteron 2** chips for dualies since FX** and Opteron 1** are single cpu only (as are the a64's).
Thanks. Good to know.
Now I'm going to have to consider getting and Opteron 146 (the 148's are essetially the same high price as the FX 51's) in an Asus SK8V instead of a P4c3.0. Even with the more expensive ram ($331 for Corsair Twinx1024RE-3200LL on Newegg which is just a few $ more than...
Does anyone know for sure if Opterons selling now like the 144 and higher really support pc3200(ddr400). I was just looking at this spec sheet which says, "* DDR400 supported by Rev C0 and later, Refer to AMD OpteronTM Processor Power and Thermal Data Sheet, order# 30417, for silicon revision...
Ok, a guess:
I don't think this board supports registered memory. I know the specs say it supports ECC but in looking at Gigabyte's page for the board and the manual for my own rev 1.0 version of this board I see no listed support for registered memory modules. I think you'd have better...
I guess the first steps are to look up the mushkin ram's specs (timings it sets via spd, voltage it's rated to handle, PCxxxx/DDRxxx rating supported, etc) then look in your bios and check to see where everything's at in your settup. If everything is where it should be then the next step is...
Since the 8KNXP will require a sacrafice of one of the ICH5R IDE channels if you run non-raid SATA drives off the ICH5R controller you should put your SATA raid 0 on the ICH5R and your single SATA on the Sil3112. You will need the ICH5R raid drivers on a floppy so you can install them with...
Good to know. Thanks for the confirmation and info guys. Let's hope Gigabyte gets this dealt with when F6 gets released as it's about the only real complaint I have with the board. I plan to use it again with the next box I'm building.
The only other thing I'm wondering about the whole...
Are you booting from the raid on ICH5R, and did you have to sacrafice one of your ICH5R controlled IDE channels to access the raid?
Mine:
GA-8KNXP (rev 1.0, F5 bios)
P4C 2.4GHz
1GB RAM (Corsair TWINX1024-3200LL, 2x512MB PC3200 in dual channel mode)
1 Seagate ST3120026AS (120GB, 8MB...
I have Corsair TWINX1024-PC3200LL in the ga-8knxp based system I just built. I didn't realise how many folks were having trouble with low latency ram on this board when I ordered it or I would have gone for the 'C2' which is what's recommended.
When it first posted and I went through the...
Yeah I've read that too. Don't know if I'll be able to swing a raid 0 in the next box I'm building (hopefully very soon) with the cost of high end vid cards the way they are. Would be nice to have.
I'm finding this 7200rpm 8MB cache SATA Seagate pretty nice on it's own. Haven't done any...
Ouch! That sucks.
However I have been messing with my 8knxp further and find I can boot with a single SATA drive on ICH5R. The only way I've been able to get it to work is to set On-Chip SATA: Auto. This remaps the SATA drive to one of the 2 ICH5R IDE channels if one of them doesn't have...
I found an anti-static matt with wrist strap (and room for a 2nd to plug in) and grounding cord (gator clip/plug to fit wall socket ground) at Radio Shack the other day when I was looking for a strap myself. Was US$19+tax.
A bit clueless and frustrated here. :frown:
Been trying to get a ga-8knxp (rev 1.0, F5 bios) to boot (with fresh XP Pro SP1) from an SATA drive connected to the ICH5R SATA controller. I have 1 dvdrw (Pioneer A06U) connected to IDE1 as master and the SATA drive (120GB Seagate) connected to...
