How to set up my Hard Drives?

There is a good reason to move the swapfile over first there is a boost in performance. Why else would Linux do it in installation. I dont know the techincal reason but it works.

How Do you Login to Root

Thanx for all the help after hours of reading http://doc.mandrakelinux.com/MandrakeLinux/92/en/Starter.html/ I have fixed the problem with the LAN but I would still like to Log in to Root with KDE still have not found that. In the log in screen all I see is my User name!!!!

yes i have, i can transfer files to a nother box but when i go to LAN Browser (to find my other box) and type lan://mshome/ is when i get the error

I have started to read Some Samba doc but, I think my problem is with LISa daemon, for that is what the Error says. Can you just tell me how to install that becouse it says that is not installed?

ok, When do I type that in becous I tried the Terminal and that says Bash: rclisa: command not found, Bash: insserv: command not found thanx for the help plezz dont give up on me to fast i have it boot directly to the GUI

How to set up my Hard Drives?

When you have more than one drive it is all ways a good idea to put the swap file on a diff drive than the OS, and make it big. To do this START, Control Panel, System, Advanced tap, Settings for Performance, Advanced tap, Change, from there you should be able to find evey thing you need.

I am trying to make a LAN with a XP box but looking at the network from Linux I get Error - Konqueror Inorder to use the LAN Browser the lisa daemon must be installed and activated by the system administrator I gessed the first step to get that fixed would be to login to Root

Hard Drive lettering is messed up...

Partition Magic, I use to have Partition magic and I think it will work with out losing any thing, don't have it any more so I can't check but you can try, or if someone knows. It is a realy good tool to have any way. EZ to find it to download.

dual boot - 98se & xp; reinstalling 98se

It has to be oldes to newest so if you format and reinstall 98 you will also have to do XP.

Which video card for under $100?

That is what i have and it is good for all the games I have thrown at it. I would also sugest it for a low priced card.

Best portable storage solution?

I do know that pen drives is not the way to go if you wont 40Gb. Depending were you go, but in tiger direct a usb 2.0 2Gb pin drive for 1099.99$. On the other hand thay have regular size external 40Gb for 160$ there are probley better at price graber.
