My computer's always downloading SOMETHING, what's up?

My computer is also on a school network, that is infected with all the latest and greatest viruses. Constantly my computer is pinged by other computers on the network. If my computer sends a reply, the virus will download. I installed a firewall before I ever plugged it into the network...

9600 Pro Issues

very odd problem, getting CRC error on multiple disks and they all work just fine on my other machine

I had a similair problem on my Mobo. I updated the bios. It fixed the problem. Although I do sometimes get errors on installing files that are downloaded. I think it has to do with my IDE cable. So I would first update the bios, then I would switch all or at least some of the IDE cables.

Enough cooling to handle this OC?

For those of you who are OC the XP 2500 by only raising the FSB and not the vcore.. How much temp change has occurred? I am currently running everything at stock speeds But I am worried that I will not have enough air cooling for this OC due to my case. My case currently only has 2 fans...

Please Explain Monitor Hz to me

I have no clue on this, and I bet its really simple too. How can you tell whats optimal for your monitor? Does it have anyhting to do with your vid card? Is a higher Hz better?

The corruption is only in files that I try to install. For example i tried to install a game, from a cd, it said that a file during installation was corrupt. Also for example, I downloeded the new ATI 3.8 drivers a 25meg file. When I double click it, it goes to extract, upon extraction it says...

It is a legal copy on a burned CD. Legal as in my company owns it. I don't get any errors during installiontion of windows from the DVD drive? But you still think its the CD? Do you think its because I am installing ZoneAlarm before anything else?

Which 9600 Pro to get?

The "EZ" line of cards are slower than the other 9600pros thats why they are cheaper. I personally own an ATI 9600 pro. They offer a better warranty then other companies, so I ouwld go with this one.

I am using the stock heatsink. I have mounted other HS before, I dont think thats the problem. I tried reseating the RAM, no luck. I removed the battery, still no luck.

ok I took it out of the case and tested it on a piece of cardboard. I was unable to get it to post. I also tried taking the memory out and booting, shouldnt the mobo give me a beep code of errors, that tell me that there is no memory, if the answer is yes, then somethings up. Does anyone...

Does Xcase(Power Magic) make decent power supplies?

Best Video Card for Me (<200$?)

I would give my vote for a 9600pro, just cause I bought one right before the HL2 benchamrks were released and was amazed at how well this card performed. It looks to me like its the best bang for the buck card for HL2. With that said, your only running a 1700+ so putting a much faster card in...
