Hard disk not accepting Windows XP

Might not be related, but I had the same problem with a thinkpad laptop that keeps halting on memtest even though there is no error. Turns out one of the ram chip is faulty.

Dual PSU?

Yes you can, try searching the forum for dual psu, last year I have seen some post about shorting two of the pins in the 20 pin connector to the motherboard. This is done to turn the other PSU on. Try google otherwise, but it's definitely possible

BSODs

I am seeing a pattern here, all these crashes is associated with games, therefore the culprit has to lie somewhere in the videocard. But if you are certain that the videocard is fine (and that you have tried another one), try another power supply. It could be that the power supply is crapping...

CD burner ripping really slowly?

When you said Lite on, I remembered something from a few years ago... People were complaining about the noise that 52x cd/burner produces, so they limit it to a certain speed. I think of you press and hold the eject button for a few seconds as your computer boots up it will go to max speed...

Is there a way to backup large hard drives, easy n cheap?

Get two 200Gb drives, use ghost to back up the drive and do a high compression on the image. You can probably shrink a full 150 gig drive to 50 gig depending on the type of files inside. Unless you have 150 gig of zip files you'll be fine. All three drives will probably fit into one. 200 gig...

I haven't seen the 6600gt or x700 around with AGP. That is the problem, and I don;t expect it to sell the same price as a 9800 pro. The shops are selling 9800 pro lower than retail to clear out their stocks. I wish there's a benchmark using a middle end machine just to show whether upgrading...

Win XP doesn't recognize 2nd hard drive (BIOS does)

Question...Why buy a twinpack of RAM?

From what I have read so far, when a manufacturer labeled a pair of RAM as dual channel, it means that they took the time to plug them into dual channel and see if they work. There has been no benchmark comparing a pair of memory bought in a pack and another pair bought separately. I got a pair...

get a spare IDE cable for $5, swap it in, and see... It happened to me... Otherwise, swap the IDE channels, if the hard drive plays up, then it's the IDE channe; that has gone bad... But definitely get a new IDE cable

PROBLEM IS BACK and BAD!

I have the same problem, I have an Asus 48/24/52 and it craps out on me after some abuse with burning on 48X with a few hundred discs... I RMA it and they returned it to me and said that it's normal for 'old' burner to die slowly... So now I am burning anything with 24x fine but nothing...

Now guys, I am about to get a benq fp767, an 16ms 17 incher... But it doesn't have DVI, and I know all the threads have said it's a really noticeable improvement to have dvi... But is it really worth it to pay $100 extra for an 17 inch lcd with 20ms and dvi? Thanks

I bought this external hard drive the other day. I set it so that my network drive will be backupped with a touch of a button. But it only works the first time, any subsequent time it will bail out and say network drive not found. THis is under windows 2000 by the way... Any help or insight...

What is the best program for benchmarking everything on my system??

A benchmark program is usually catered for one specific part of the comp... check the overclocking forum first thread for an excellent thread on bechmarking program... I guess SiSoft Sandra benches everything in your system, but it contain lots of syntetic benchmark that doesn't reveal real...

What does it all mean?

My g/f has a P4 1.6A but with just one case fan, it runs at 46C under max load.... So, yours should be cool as well... Anything in the low 50 is still considered fine for under load temperature

Overclock = good psu... good psu = Antec 350W at least, not if you gonna put lots of fans and cold cathodes (get true blue 480w it has blue led on the fan) case: if you want cool, aluminium case is the one to use of course... Any of the Lian Li cases is good if you got money to burn, but check...

Monitor question:Is it worth?

Will LCD make it less strenous for your eyes, cause I sit in front of the monitor at work and at home like 18 hours aday... I have to lower the contrast to 60 or so, will LCD with its high contrast rate better for your eyes?

Win Xp Installation Problem.

That's IDE cable... I had a faulty one that connects the cdrom to the mobo, and the exact same thing happens, with almost the same error message... I bought this new rounded cable and it was faulty, try to get it from somewhere, use an old ribbon one of you have to... Try it and good luck
