Normal temps for a GTX 570 (pre-OCed)

I have the EVGA GTX 570 Superclocked (797Mhz clock), and it reaches 70-71c while playing BF3 for a while. Since the weather has gotten cooler, it's even less. High 60s. I did tweak my fan profile a bit, it runs at 75 percent of it's max speed during play. Hope this helps. Side tip, check your...

Hi Guys, I just read that very informative 12V rail FAQ sticky at the top, and I'm still not a 100% clear. I have a OCZ 550w, which is advertised to have two 12V rails at 25 AMPS each. Does that mean I meet the required minimum 38/42 AMP required on the 12V rail for a single GTX570 or 580...

The GPU transcode option seemed to help things a bit for me. It really is a nice looking game. Despite it clearly being a console game.

I wish I had not had so many vodka sodas last night and plopped $60 on this pile. What a disappointment. The ARS review is really spot on. Skip this one guys. Bummer PS. I can confirm the texture pop-in is atrocious on the PC, and they all look quite "consoleized" for lack of a better word.

I just installed a GTX 460 and now my CPU is constantly being taxed!

Looks like the Smart6 or EasyTune Gigabyte software did not know what to do with the new video card. I removed those and the cpu taxing is gone now. Thanks for the input

I just installed a GTX 460 and now my CPU is constantly being taxed!

I have no idea what is going on. Taskmanager just says 40-50% of all 4 of my cores are being used and the process with the most activity is "svchost.exe" Any ideas? All I did was uninstall my old Nvidia 9500 GT and install this new GTX 460 with the new drivers! HALP!

Vista Business (32bit) Disk Usage Not adding up

Has anyone else come across this? I have two laptops here that have 100gb hard drives. Vista is reporting 69gb used on one, but when I add up all the files/folders and hidden objects I can only account for about 53 gig. That includes all the restore point information. Where the heck is using the...

Bad_pool_caller - BSOD in XP...

usually booting into safe mode bypasses the driver. That's how I was able to remove it. By the way, I never was able to get this damn serial card to work in this machine. Quite frustrating.

network appliance (netapp)

I've got a Netapp unit with a few disk shelfs and it has several servers connected to it for NFS storage. I'm trying to see if there is a way to view all the machines connected to it that are using it for NFS mounts from the Netapp. I can telnet into it, and it has a list of unix like commands...

Averatec computers any good?

I was just eyeing up their 4265 model. Which has a slick 13" widescreen display. Nice looking machine. Seems like a good value too. Mmm.. decisions. I think I'll go see if Staples has any on display at their store, or better yet Wal-Mart, since they are a reseller of Averatec too :P

I have a x86 machine running BSDI 4.1, and I need to access single user mode because i've lost root access. What is the procedure to putting the machine in single user mode and resetting the root password? Is a boot disk needed for single user access? :(

mmmm this might of worked for me too. I set my pc to infrastructure only last and also disabled the wireless zero config service. Not sure which one did, but i think it was the infrastructure option. So far my pc has maintained the wireless connection for 16+ hours. That's longer then I have...

HL 2 Stuttering Sound/Video

Count me in on this problem. I'm running Windows XP Sp2 A64 3200 1g of ram MSI K8N Neo Leaktek 6800 GT Latest drivers, using onboard audio codec. Doesn't sound like anyone has a sure-fire fix... most annoying. I'll try the "-heapsize 512000 +cl_smooth 0" and see if it has any effect.

Upgrading Catalyst Supervisor engine

Anyone have any experience with upgrading the supervisor engine in a Cisco Catalyst 5000 series switch? I'm going from an old crusty Sup 1 engine to a Sup IIIG. What would be the best way to upgrade it with minimal downtime on the switch?

Athlon 64 Temperature Threshold

Actually that's the maximum temp of the pc case. The core can operate at much high temps. It varies from model to model, but AMD CPU's can operate safely anywhere up to 85-95 degree's celsius. Of course you wouldn't want to run them like that for extended periods of time. AMD's white papers...
