I was paying that much in 2008 when I lived in Metro Detroit. I lived in a really affluent area too, but it was in Wayne County and Michigan's no-fault insurance is already high. I currently pay less than that for a 2014 Stingray and the same ForesterXT.

Corvette finally arrived

We've got it covered now. I've got a Laguna Blue 2014 Z51 I've been driving since May. Probably one more week and then it gets put away for winter. Getting too cold for good traction up here. Taking it week by week though, if it warms up I'm going to keep driving it.

I bought my last phone through Amazon. I use Verizon. I went from dumbphone-->smartphone so I had to select the data package/etc from Amazon when I ordered it. Selecting them on Amazon at the time of purchase didn't add it to my account though and I had to do it all again at Verizon's website...

That's only true if you have digital cable with no analog option. He already said he has a TV in one room that's plugged into the wall and gets all the channels, so he'll get the same thing with a TV tuner. I know Comcast is moving to a fully digital system and rolling it out gradually...

SATA 3 SSD: which port to use?

I just built a new system with SandyBridge and an OCZ SSD that's SATA 2. I connected it to the SATA 3 port on my motherboard and installed Win7 just fine. Only about 12 hours of runtime on the system so far, but so far so good. It certainly seems fast, I didn't try and benchmark it.

I had dinner at the Chophouse a few months ago and it was OK, but I'm not sure it was worth the money. Then again, I'm a bad judge of steak in a restaurant since I've yet to find a place where they cook a better steak than I do. The beer was good though.

Prices are coming down

When I was in Maine at the end of July, they were saying lobster was way lower than normal because the numbers they were catching were way up. I'm almost positive it was cheaper than steak. So I took advantage of super cheap, super fresh lobster while I was there.

How long are dead lobsters good for consumption?

You might be in trouble - when a lobster dies it's digestive system releases enzymes that turn the meat to mush. You can cook them, but when you crack 'em open it's likely there won't be anything there to eat. Being at room temperature for two hours, I'm not sure I'd even attempt to eat it...

Should cars be equipped with transponders?

GM already installs black boxes in their cars (this is different from OnStar). It records data prior to airbag deployment, speed, seat belt status, and other things. I believe insurance companies can get the data somehow if they so choose.

Good brands for saws? Lowe's or Home Depot?

We have a Bosch jigsaw at work and it has the worst blade changer of any I've ever used. I'm always paranoid I'm going to break it. The Craftsman my Dad has is super easy. You just push up on the collar and the blade pops off. It's a much nicer saw than the Bosch.
