I think this is an average price for the 213t, even Best Buy has the same 213t for 1199.99 + free shipping from bby.com or instore for that same price. Really all you save from dell is tax, and many states will have to pay that regardless.
There is no exact ammount of time your battery will last, in general Lithium Ion batteries (like the one in your laptop) can be charged and discharged about 500 times before they start to deteriorate. If you fully charged and used up your battery everyday for a year you would be close to that...
Money sent via western union is much harder to track, thus many scammers will require that you use it. You can see this in many of the ebay scam auctions (BUY a new 17" powerbook for $500!!! and others of that ilk).
The HP that you mention in you last post looks nice. The Pentium M...
If you decide to buy it I would make sure you pay with something that would be traceable (IE: not cash and not western union) and get/ verify as much information as you can about the seller. If you are willing to put up with the size and weight of the s609 it is a very powerfull, full featured...
I would be rather wary of any place advertising a price so out of line with the laptops 'going price'. Is this a private deal or have you seen a store advertising this price?
I consider battery life, size and weight, and screen size to be the most importent features of a laptop. Processor power is secondary in a portable machine. With that said the pentium-M based chips (as dothian will be) are better suited to my idea of what a laptop should be.
I dont know much about the specific models you ask about but as a general rule of thumb:
Sennheiser:
Sound: very good
Price: moderate to expensive
Grado:
Sound: good
Price: cheap to moderate
So, depending on your budget id recomend either Sennheisers or Grados. I have...
Many people here will recomend the IBM T series laptop as it performs extremly well and is very durable. A loaded T series laptop will be at the upper end of your pricerange though there have been hot deals in the past few months that would bring down the price a bit.
Other than the IBMs you...
a gimick.
The Athlon XP-M is a fast enough processor, comparable to an intel P4-M, but it will use much more battery power when running than a comparable Pentium-M processor.
Look for an IBM or toshiba with the pentium-M and a better graphics card (ATI 9600 is top of the line now I believe)...
The Athlon XP-M is a better processor but Toshiba tends to make better quality/ more reliable machines with sharper screens, so it really depends on what you are looking for.
The iPAQ series has always been a fovorite of mine. The h5455 h5555 h4350 (built in keyboard) and h4150 (very slim!) all have 802.11b and bluetooth wireless built in.
The toshiba e805 also has built in 802.11b with the advantage of a much higher screen resolution, downside being that I find...
If you live with your BF and are comfortable sharing computers Id recomend buying a higher end Athlon64 PC. Than you would have the best of both worlds available depending on what you needed to do. There are some areas where an Apple is preferable and some where a PC dominates, by having both...
That kid is a complete moron. The POS mini-ITX athlon mobo he stuck in the g5 tower doesnt even have AGP... so its not like he can say he did it to play games.
He says he is going to use it for ripping DVDs browsing and chatting online... hello? OSX is perfect for that stuff. And speaking...
The BestBuy laptop warrenty is less attractive than the PDA/phone warrenty. You will be required to wait while BestBuy ships the laptop to a third party repair center. (currently in Tx) 1 - 2 weeks turn around time would be the best you could realisticly hope for. If the laptop is sent out...
I have used a few of them, they are not too bad. The integrated video isnt very good and the battery life isnt comparable to a pentium M laptop. Otherwise I think it would work well for her.
iPOD:
smaller with a sleek attractive design.
Better menu system with more intuitive controls.
Compatable with iTunes store.
Zen:
more capacity.
removable battery
You just have to decide which would be "more better" for your needs and desires.
Also: I have had no problem using my...
If you dont have a need for it wait. Once you decide you do need it you can pick up a 12x or 16x burner cheap in 6months ... and laugh at us with our 8x dvdrws :D
Cheap might be better if you are prepared to treat a laptop as a disposable comodity, but few people (in the non business world ) are. Just as it is usually unwise to buy the highest priced item it is similarly unwise to always buy the lowest cost item available. Consider this: you buy a...
reverse what you said and I might agree. : )
IBM's reliability is legendary, dell's reliability is also legendary... but not in a positive way. The HP/CPQ x1000/zt3000 is a decent choice, they are above average for HP/CPQ.
In order of preference:
IBM: smaller, more rugged machine that...
The tablets PC's advantages lie in note taking and usability while standing/walking.
- note taking is a pain on a normal laptop, it is hard to quickly jot down the kind of symbols and graphics you would write to save time when taking paper notes. When taking notes during a lecture or meeting...
Its a processor designed for use in mobile PCs. It runs at a lower clock speed than a p4 but it can perform just as well. (similar to an athlon having a lower clockspeed but still being competitive with a p4) It will get much better batterylife than a p4 in a laptop by virtue of its design.
that sounds like a pretty good deal, though you could get a lower end toshiba brand new at that price point if you are willing to wait for mail in rebates to come back to you.
IBM is the best for notebooks but toshiba is not a bad company, depending on what they are using them for you might...
I have a plextor px-708a and I had a sony dru510. I would recomend either of those drives to you without reservation. The sony will be slower to write cds and dvd but should be cheaper. Both these drives will write dvd-r/-rw, dvd+r/+rw, cdr, cdrw.
I am using a func 1030 with my MX700. It works very well and it is spacious enough that i never 'run out of pad' and have to reposition the mouse, I had this problem often with my everglide pad.
