Speech Recognition Question

Here is what I would like to do... Take VHS tape and convert to digital (i know the hardware for this).. then extract the audio from it.. then run against speech recognition software to get a rough dialog of commentary. I will proof read all text - I realize that it will not capture it...

XP Doesnt see any CDs or USB drives?

I used the drive just fine outside of windows - that eliminates the cable/drive/ide controller. It is something in windows. Has anyone out there ran into these symptoms and what did they do to correct the problem? thanks

Win XP Pro: pc will not goto any outbound traffic port 80

xp sp2 - no spyware after scans. no virus after scans. network is clear - ethereal scans seemed ok. Also all the other 30 pcs on the same segment were OK. I just formated it because I needed it up and running quickly. But I would like to know what can be done in the future to fix this type of...

Win XP Pro: pc will not goto any outbound traffic port 80

I can't figure it out. I ran winsock fix. I ran netsh int ip reset. I can ping the domain names.. but then port 80 will not work. Secured sites work fine since running on port 443. Any ideas here? I plugged it into another network with same results. Thanks in advance!

I have a PC that shows the CDROM drive in my computer and even with NO cd in it you can click and open it (nothing in it). When I put a CD in it it is still blank. I also put my USB thumb drives into it and it shows up in my computer but doesnt get the drive label name only that its there. I...

HDD failed

sounds like they get power but i dont here them spinning up.. no im not swapping any mechanical parts inside the hdd only the circuit board OUTSIDE the caddy. ive read a lot of posts where people have done this and it actually worked.. assuming the firmware and everything is the same...

my personal file server crashed. the PSU wouldnt turn back on. I swapped PSU. no HDD in BIOS. Now the PSU works after leaving it unplugged several days. I tried the freezer trick with no luck. I can MILDLY smell burnt, but not that bad. My question is this. If i order the exact model...

Backup Software

It has problems coping files that are in use. This other software used to get an entire image of the HDD and send that to destination. thanks though if nothing else i might give this a shot

XP: Manually config COM port for serial communications

BIOS didn't help. I installed another version of the driver and it added options to change COM port. That did the trick. for search engine people the card is StarTech PCI 16C550 Serial I/O Interface Card. thanks for the help everyone.

I have win xp pro sp2 I have 1 onboard serial port COM1. I installed a PCI serial card. COM3 and COM4. There is no settings and the device manager will not let me manually configure the IRQ. I need to have COM1 - onboard and COM2 the PCI card. Any suggestions?

2 Cable modems for 1 network

Any suggestion of a router for home networking with 10 computers

Id get the WRT54G from linksys.. 7db high gain antennas.. and a couple range expanders.. you might have $150 in everything and a nice wide open distance on range. I have this same setup in a 20,000 sq foot house using the 5-4-3 rule and everything works ok... with computers in every bedroom...

This domain has about 200 users.. their file structure is.. c:\companystuffxxx\documents\lockedfolder If I change the ownership of documents.. thats going to be about 5gb of documents that 200 users will now see as me the owner.. will this matter to those users? I cannot have them...

OK so one of the shares on the domain controller has been modified from a user. I first thought the folder was encrypted because it says access is denied from within the admin account. I thought if the folder was encrypted that it would be in green font?? maybe im wrong. Is there anyway...

well I already gave the other pc the 120g..lol wasnt worth the time and effort.. but for future reference.. if I did it the method you are describing.. it would restore the system with all the settings.. vpn, iis, rdp, etc? it seemed like it was having an issue.. or realized the hdd driver...

no.. and both hard drives didnt seem like they had any activity going on. there was no information from dd at all..after hours.. knoppix had mounted both hdd i checked. im going to try norton ghost today here in about a hour or so.. ill let you know, any ideas what was wrong with my dd...
