installed new hd tried to transfer ~92gigs of stuff from old hd. some problems inside-

Yes, cluster size most likely. Was are the file systems on both drives? Was probably a fat32 > NTFS_5 copy. Your files are fine. Why you got the BSOD is anyones guess really.

Need SCSI help........... Stripe size???

Go with the largest stripe size possible then, it will help performance. If you are playing with large media always go with a large stripe size. If working with lots of small files then go with a small stripe size.

A7N8X Sata issues...

Stick your Windows XP cd in your cdrom and boot from cdrom 1st. When it comes up and says "Press any key to boot from cd rom", just let it go and dont press anything, then it will boot. This happens to me too on my raid 1 array.

Asus AZN8X-deluxe boot problem with SATA mirror set......

Thanks a bunch, looks like they have the same problem. I dont think i can use the "uber bios" they are talking about though, they all seem to have the 1.04 version of the pcb. i have the newer 2.0.

Asus AZN8X-deluxe boot problem with SATA mirror set......

The only settings for it are for cdrom/scsi/hdd0-1-2-3/floppy/ls120/lan/and various USB peripherals. Right below that is a "boot other device" option which i have enabled. I have tried it using SCSI and HDD0 as the fist boot option and it sticks. I dont know what it thinks its booting off of...

Yeah i did that, same result. I went ahead and updated the bios to c1006 just for the hell of it, but results are still the same. It just sits there....ive waited a few minutes and it never continues. Very very odd.

RAM for A7N8X Deluxe?

I was wondering what ram to get, i live in hawaii so i dont want to have to send back ram thats incompatible and wait for a replacement. I was thinking of going witht he Corsair XMS 3200 at newegg, but 123 bucks seems pretty steep to me. Any other suggestions? I really dont want any memory...

My experienices with Plextor 708A DVDR

I have the 12x10x32 as well, never made 1 coaster with it, im gonna keep it till it dies. ;) I recently built a new system and didnt even bother to get a new cdrw/dvdrw, this drive is that good. Plextor ownz.

Can Only Download 2 Files at a Time - Why??

Yeah, what RVN said..... Its actually not a microsoft limitation, but an internet standard. You really arent supposed to be able to have more than 2 concurrent connection....but nobody pays attention to that rule, and even less people know about it anyway.

I did all that, ive been putting systems together for years. The PSU is a 380W true power, it comes with the Sonata case. Its very high quality. I know its the board, if the RAM were bad, it would have beeped at me. So i powered it on with NO RAM, and it still did nothing. I even powered it...

Yeah i mostly was interested int hem because they are pretty slick and i like the aspect ratio on them.......illlook at the samsungs too i guess. Also for what youre getting, they are a pretty good deal....which is rare from apple. example- Apple display = $1999 Sony/Samsung = $ ~$2300

Dual P3 300 with 512MB Ram as a file server?

Id stay with raid1 personally, raid 5 is overrated for anyhting other than economical reasons (total space isnt cut in half) RAID 1 read speeds are actually superior to that of RAID 5 in a general sense....especially because of the size of the files youll be dealing with, youd need a small...

SATA150, whats the deal ?!

Just like ata-133 it is limited to the PCI bus speed right now....which already has traffic on it from your other peripherals, when PCI-x becomes more mainstream you will start to see the capabilities of both ata-133 and more importantly sata150 shine through. i think....

Uhh, when did AMD lose the FPU crown? Pretty sure opteron is gonna own a P4 or xeon in that arena......though im sure someone will link some benchies to prove me wrong.

What's the video quality like between ATI's AIW cards and their TV Wonder cards?

Are ATI's tuner cards considered the best? What about the hauppauge line? I want to turn my system into a sort of a Tivo....i believe ATI's software bundle has something with that capability. I live in hawaii now and i wont be home from work in time to catcht he laker games this coming...

What are the differences between the 2? Is it just clock speed? Should i buy the 9800 non PRO and just use powerstrip or some other overclocking proggie? I was looking at the Sapphire 9800 non pro version on newegg as an option.

thanks for the reply, was going to order just a regular drive and possibly throw together my own NAS product with linux and a VIA c3 minibox, but i think ill go the SATA RAID route instead, less of a headache. OK, ordered a couple maxtor 120GB SATA's......let the fun begin.

Im planning on booting from IDE and getting a fast SCSI drive to run programs on......data will be stored to an external firewire disk. So do you recommend SATA then? Technologically its supposed to be better, but PATA is so mature it still holds an advantage, yes?
