wow, that looks crazy awesome; and, it fits a LOT of cards. I was under the impression that it had to be pretty specific to the model #/ type/ generation......out of the loop too long . . .

I got a great deal on an R9 290 reference card. As you probably know it sounds like a jet plane when the gaming (Witcher III) gets going. I'm wondering if anyone has found a fairly simple but effective aftermarket cooling solution for the R9 290. thanks, Dana

I'm so confused.....W10 after WMC

Got fed up with the whole thing. MediaPortal is an open source train wreck for my simple needs and the WMC/WX hack is broken - at least for me. I tried it a dozen times. It started out looking promising then after trying to get the TV Guide to work properly it just broke somewhere......dunno...

Wow, I'd forgotten about this thread. I have tried MediaPortal and found it to be way over the top for my needs. I spent two days trying to get it to do something, anything. Install, uninstall, re-install, re-install W10 because it borked Windows so bad it was just easier to start fresh...

thanks for your reply, unified is fine; straight TV is right from the cable out of the wall; movie collection is from multiple PCs i.e. living room, bedroom, office. (multipule TBs.)

There's so many different choices depending on configuration and needs; I thought I'd list mine here to get some way to go :( I've got Suddenlink (west coast), a couple of PCs with TV tuners, and I'd simply like to record TV shows (future or current) and watch some of my ripped DVDs on my home...

Windows 10 clean install question AFTER upgrade

As far as I know W10 doesn't actually have a key - it's based on M/B bios hardware or some such. I used magic jelly bean and it gave me a key but, I believe it's a generic key. When I clean installed I gave it my W7 key and it went right through; no problems, no more questions. AND, this is...

Probably asked to death but

I did this as well. Major M/B, CPU, RAM, SSD upgrade. Put in my 7 license and voila! NP This was AFTER upgrading to 10 on the old hardware, then upgrade, then clean install

In my other install (Win7) same machine, I just went for it without doing a thing. I had nothing to lose so I figured what the hell. It lacked a network driver and that was about it. Up and running with super new hardware. In my travels I ran across these links...

Finally dove off the deep end and clean installed W10. Skipped putting in a key then, after installation complete, put in my 7 key and it activated right up! Not a single hitch. I've even gotten most of my programs that were installed on a separate 'D' drive up and running. Woo hoo! lightning...

Serendipity - 8 Watched again last night. A funny little romantic romp but, Kate Beckinsale looking her finest IMO. The music plays along with the movie just right for the romantics and the Bloomingdale's sales man (Eugene Levy) is a crack up.

When did Hulu stop being free?

Hulu quit being free when they got enough users who loved it. Think AVG, CCleaner, Malwarebytes....this stuff was free and folks jumped all over it because it worked (AND it was free and easy to get). There are still free versions of course but, to get the whole package now you pay. Fair enough...

I changed the title once or twice but then I could not change it any more. Any way to get around this? I can't delete the thread so the title is irrelevant after something is bought/sold. What should I do? - don't want to exceed the thread limit. Also, what can I do to allow attachments...

New video card wanted .. $150 limit maybe?

I was looking at a 7970. My temps with Witcher 2 were 107+ then it turned off. I pulled it out and cleaned it thoroughly and my temps are now at 70+...near 80C. CLEAN YOUR CARD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I read in another thread that 20C reduction is not possible with simply cleaning. Well, it's true...

This was my guess; DDR3 vs DDR5, and more of it. GPUBoss.com was really throwin' me off. This guy is not even a gamer but, he does do video editing which probably doesn't need the latest and greatest. thanks all for your inputs :)
