Cheapest outlet for 10?

Building a computer for this cave. Need suggestions for a Windows OS and where to purchase same. The computer wil be used for surfing and viewing movies. Nothing super fast needed. I noticed on EBay there are dongles available for Windows 10 for $50-$75. What say you forum? TIA

I wish it were that easy. Let me back up: I am running 7/64 bit. The OS does not assign the portable drive a letter. To see the drive- you have to click "Devices and Printers". there the drive is listed as "CMS USB 2.0 Storage Adapter" (BTW, CMS is the manufacturer of the drive). By...

formatted portable to dishnetwork

I formatted this 80 gig portable drive using a VIP 622 DVR (Dishnetwork). I really would like to reformat so windows could recognise the drive now. I did not transfer anything from the DVR to the drive. I did not know the special formatting would do this. Any ideas?

DEll Dimension 8300 locks up

Just the broad strokes. Running XP Home. After bootup, the computer is so slow. Looking at performance under task manager- CPU usage stays at 100%. I stopped all running processes I could and CPU stayed at 100%. Is it time for another computer?

new HD but cannot load windows

HP Pavillion DV 6700. Bought a new WD Sata 250 gig drive. Installed same and booted to WD drive tools CD. Formatted the hard drive. Installed XP Pro cd, stated install. No fixed disk detected. Ran hiren's boot CD and hard drive showed up to it. Do I need hit F6 and install drivers? If so, how in...

This drive is from an HP Pavillion. It is a Sata II 250 gig. My problem is- I don't know which replacement drive to order from Newegg. The pinout is different from my other HP, in that this one uses a different method to connect to the mainboard...

swapped mainboard- messed up now

Suggestions on RAM for new system..........

This brings up another question. Will any RAM I choose run in dual channel mode, as long as I choose 2 sticks of the same type, brand, and speed? I am leaning towards two 1-gig sticks.

Computer freezing whenever trying to load something intensitive

Dead: 19" Flat CRT (KDS XF-9BI) $77 AC/AR

I have had this monitor for about 6 months. I am running a 5900 ultra and see nothing wrong with the display. I you guys are leery- do what I did. I paid $25 for a "no questions asked" warranty. For 3 years, I can return it and walk out the door-no questions asked!
