any decent space sims out or on the horizon?

FS2 still holds the supreme position in space sims for me. I bought the IW gold collection, and found the only fun maneuver was ramming. I think a lot of it has to do with the learning curves. FS2, well Fredded, makes the pilot make on-the-fly decisions to delegate wingmen and choose targets...

well, I just pulled the trigger on the Lian-Li v300B, but won't get my grubby mits on it until next week. the Aspire qpack was close second for most of the time I've been planning it. I'm looking forward to upgrading from lappyland.

Shuttle SN95G5 question

you tried bringing the drive forward a little in the case, right? I had this case, and the first time I built the system, had the same problem, only it was a spacing issue. I was sure it was broken until I brought the drive up. (maybe I misread your symptoms...) I loved that box...

Steam/Valve disabled my account

steam is steam. they should reinstate your account (give you a new key, whatever) since you did nothing wrong. I have had no problems with them, but there's a vocal group of people who have. And if they're cancelling an account, I think an email to the contact information for the CDkey's...

jus picked up GTA LCS for PSP -- is it awesome?

QFT I played it for a while when I upgraded to 2.0, then downgraded back to 1.5 and couldn't play it anymore. I enjoyed it a lot while playing, though.

Buying a Thinkpad

I'm using the ultrabay for a second HDD (mp3s are out of control). stupidly easy to use. that FireGL runs DoD:S excellently for me, and that's enough to keep my gaming demons at bay.

This sounds like a good deal to me. If you're not obsessed with getting a Core-duo model (some are), I saw this one for sale here. but like I said, your setup doesn't seem bad at all, and if fbrdphreak is correct (I have no reason to doubt), a 9-cell battery would suit you much better...

Anybody else uncomfortable about chapter sequels?

I'm excited for the episodic content. I play it at hard, so as to make it last longer, (I konw I wouldn't finish this stuff in 1-2 hours) but really, it's the scripting that excites me the most. More D.O.G. and Alyx will be good to see. I've loved Minerva and want more. $15 would sound much...

my favorite part of the write-up: "energy efficient AMD Turion M-Series Processor" why bother, at that point? it gets props for having HL2 on screenshot, though. that keyboard looks really, really uncomfortable, though.

Video cards in a shuttle??

From what I'd read about it, it changes the airflow in the whole case. I really just wanted to put a nice silencer on the video card to quiet it down a bit (and improve cooling). I still miss my box, though.

buying gold for an MMO

I don't really see why this would be a bad thing. Think of it like enhancing your in-game character with a recently dead uncle's trust fund. do you deserve it? not really. but it sounds like in Eve, if you get a ship outside your class, your skill deficiencies will endanger you losing that...

I've not heard of touch-up paint for laptops, but it wouldn't surprise me if you could find it after a thorough (global) search. I've also not had to look for any. -pats lappy-

I ran a x800xt AIW in my sn95G5 without a problem, power-wise. I was very tempted to dremel a hole in the side to allow for better airflow off the GPU, though.

What in your opinion is the IDEAL monitor size for a notebook computer?

I need a cheap audio input for my laptop.

I've been thinking about getting a PCMCIA audio card just to use the slot on my lappy. I can never decide on a product, then figure I'm fine enough with the onboard... (of course I have a mic-in). I can't imagine you'd have that much trouble tracking down a good used PCMCIA card, though.

I just did this, and PITA is an understatement. I'm going to try deleting my library, then re-linking the folder. right now I got a double list of everything, with an exclamation mark next to one of each song.

the demo played fine on my laptop. just got the game today, it doesn't run well at all. all choppy, even with settings minimized much lower than demo was a shame, really. I'm going to look into how to expand the demo (use that engine, at least).
