The version of Vista that was in my bag was the Pre-RTM version (build 5840). The copy does not list an expiration date anywhere, and there is no "Evaluation Copy" watermark on the desktop. So yeah, looks like a full version to me :)
I don't think you could play HL2 and Doom 3 on a x300. It may run, but it wouldn't be playable. Its really just a crappy crappy video card with a fancy name
For the record, a 9700 is MUCH faster than a x300 or a x600 graphics card. You would be able to run Doom 3 and half life 2 without any problems on a 9700. the 6800 is faster than the 9700, but it also drains the batteries almost twice as fast.

I have one of these in a USB enclosure right next to my monitor, and I can barely hear it at all. It's definetely quieter than the Maxtors and the Western Digitals, but I don't own any Seagates so I can't comment on those
