nForce2 worthwhile upgrade

The nf7-s has more features and is much more stable. The EPOX has great features for high Vcores and all that pizazz but the NF7-s has a higher stable FSB

1/2" ID compression fittings?

Compression fittings or quick disconnects? Compression fittings are fine and dandy but really not worth the extra cash since a hose barb is what $.10 at a hardware store. Quick disconnects however OWN. www.mcmaster.com has them as does www.usplastics.com there was a site that sold really good...

How much do RAM timings make a difference?

Thats only true on p4 systems hurrikaane. On an AMD system you need 1:1 to get decent performance. ANd yes tighter timings are good, very good.

I laugh at all the people saying don't get 256meg videocards.

LMAO 1280x1024 at 85hz=$500 well maybe in australia but in The US that is a joke. Hell my viewsonic 19in does 1600x1400 at 85hz and it only cost $250. Maybe 1280x1024 costs more because it isnt a standard resolution :D

SATA on P4PE

In the bios there is an option to make the SATA drive into HDD01 or something like that. Just look through there i know it exists.

Mac G5 case. Wow.

If they werent theming the inside of the case they could have used much smaller copper heatsinks that would give the same if not better cooling for cheaper.

Anyone own the Yeong-Yang YY0221 cube case?

92mm or 90mm it doesnt matter 90mm will fit in 92mm holes and vice versa. The actual size of the fan is 92mm but alot of companies consider it to be 90mm, maybe they use shorter blades? Doesnt matter as long at all both will fit

Highest CPU Temperature

50c anything higher is evil especially since thats insocket, really like 10c lower since i have no airflow near my socket, and not on die which is like 20c higher then socket in an aircooled system so im running at 60c which is to hot for me. In realistic situations 85c is the max any cpu should go

Athlon64 or Pentium4 @ 3ghz? Radeon 9800XT or 9800Pro or Geforce5900Ultra?

get the 9800 pro /w 256mb of ram its nice and slaughters the fx5900 in shader performance.

Need "G5" comparable system options: Budget is between $5-10K

Definitely go with Opterons, the larger Cache and better memory utilization+ the availability for more ram will make the system worth it. With the opteron you could quite possibly get a huge 2gb ram drive and then HDD speed would be Null. The G5's are nice but a dually Opteron will render alot...

Does the length of the ATA cable for ATA100/133 matters?

Get Shielded cables if you are going to go 24"+ since they will block lots of noise. I paid a few extra bucks for my shielded Antec cables and im happy since i haven had any problems burning or reading CD's.

More Cheap sound :(. When will people realize that the Nforce2 and Audigy2 DONT sound good? Sure they have good EAX support but if you have heard a Turtle Beach Santa Cruz, An M-Audio Revolution, A terratec DMX 7.1, or any other chip using the new Envy24 chipset you would know what real sound...

help!! Why is my Super High output panaflo running at 1300rpm?

Wow dont plug a super high output fan into a motherboard header unless you want it to fry.

I'm stumped with this problem

You said you put ceramique on, did you remove the thermal pad first? And that stock heatsink is crap so dont expect super duper performance especially on the fastest chip with that heatsink, the 3.0c and above have an uber copper based cooler, Also are you reading on die temps or in socket...

Is there a way to prevent a case from radiating so much heat?

My monitor is not outputting more heat then my comp i can guarentee you this. I have dual CRTs and im outputting less heat from them then i am from my radiator alone. My mosfets probably put out 80watts

Why not get an adaptor? I know my personal favorite psu, Fortron 350watt with 120mm fan, doesnt have them but is one of the best psu's you can get

Mac G5 case. Wow.

I was looking at them at the local Mac store in the Palisades mall. They arent as small as they look in the pics. They are pretty hefty actually and they look like cheese graters. The inside is even less impressive and they show off those hefty aluminum heatinks when in reality they are still...

Screwed-on copper heatspreaders - what's at the interface?

probably a little Solder because with just pure force, like 200lbs+, the copper would start to mold into the aluminum but aluminum bends way before that so it cant be sheer force and therefore must be solder or something.

Thermalright SP-94 vs SLK-947U

The SP94 will get you a few temperatures lower then the SLK-947U. The 947u performs exactly the same as the slk-900 which is less then the sp-94.

Best MB under $150?

Nf7-s theres no reason to go to anything else since this board has everything you could ever want, well maybe, and it is tested and proven to be good. For overclocking you cant go wrong with this board either.

Will Intel Scrap Prescott?

They wont dump prescott. Prescott is bad for overclockers but not at all bad for OEM's since they dont care if the cpu runs at 40c or 400c as long as it runs. Intel wont move to SOI for a while since they saw what happened to AMD when they did it.

I live in Connecticut and we have had the exact same law forever. You can drink it but you cant buy it. Bars like it because they get a day off to clean up from the week. Who really goes out drinking on a Sunday when you have to work or go to school the next day?

Thinking of getting a Thermaltake XASER III LanFire VM2000A

i feel conned

Not really. With ocing comes better cooling and with better cooling comes longer length most ocers hardware will last longer because it runs a great deal cooler.

Is there a way to prevent a case from radiating so much heat?

I saw a duct once that you hooked up to your wall and it dumped all the hot air into the wall. It only worked for the power supply fan but i think you could make a few ones out of dryer vents. To get the case to stop radiating heat you are going to have to get the heat out faster if you mean...

New Vantec Case

Its got a nice setup and I like how its rounded. Looks alot like a mac though. I love the integrated fan controller, lets just hope it can push enough wattage to be able to deal with those evil tornados that everyone loves. ^1st post :D
