Forgive me for digging up this ancient history.
The other day I got a 'See what you have missed' email from this forum, and I got to thinking about the erudite guy who was so active in P&N back in the oughties. Took me a week to come up with his name, conjur, which led me to this thread.
Whois...
It's her message I find annoying. She isn't capable of analysis - she just slings slogans and unfounded conclusions echoing her party's talking points. Par for the course on Faux News.
Sadly, 56% of Americans believe the NSA surveillance is an acceptable means of fighting terrorism.

Took me a while to find one of my favorite quotes from Tom Robbins:
"Hawaii once had a rat problem. Then, somebody hit upon a brilliant solution. Import mongooses from India. Mongooses would kill the rats. It worked. Mongooses did kill the rats. Mongooses also killed chickens, young pigs...
It isn't the first penis killed by Arizona puritans. Kokopelli is a Hopi fertility god that has become a staple of tourist trinkets, but in order to make this transition had to lose his giant schlong along the way. Sanitized kitcsh
I've had the procedure a number of times. I have a Barret's Esophagus. I've been on Prevacid for like 20 years, but as long as I take it every day I wouldn't know I had it. The procedure isn't all that bad. They sedate you with demerol which is actually kind of pleasant but for some reason they...
Law enforcement has been on a slippery slope since the first time somebody went under cover. Winning a criminal's confidence to betray him is immoral. Two wrongs do not make a right.
I'm a bit concerned about your reading comprehension, Matt.
Gunderson's thesis is that the Tea Party represented the 'stupid' wing of the GOP. I added that the Tea Party was indeed stupid in attempting to balance the budget by pulling the rug out from under things that weren't around to fund...
The old thread devolved into sniping and ended up pretty much devoid of content.
Here's an editorial that analyzes the recent history of Bachmann, the GOP and the Tea Party. I'm in agreement with Granderson's point of view, and would add that the Tea Party was doomed to failure from the start...
Jane Fonda went to Vietnam and pissed a lot of love-it-or-leave-it types off, and ended up eroding the credibility of the left. Ronald Reagan went to Iran and was a hero. His credibility should have been hurt by his visit, but this was the first glimpse of the teflon that got him through even...
I'm 9 eps in and can't wait for more. It was a little slow building momentum but once it got going it was worth the wait. I agree that the density is not quite as great as the earlier seasons, maybe because they didn't have to edit the eps down to TV length, but it will definitely merit repeated...
It didn't get very good reviews. Most of them complained about the use of the mockumentary style like The Office. I thought it was funny and I think it is likely to get funnier as the cast develops a rapport - especially Amy/Rashida.
Ah, this thread sure takes me back. What a cool community we had back when there were just a few thousand members. Before creative misspellings became fun. Before every other post was a link to youtube.
I was already 40 when I discovered the original forum - I was getting into building and...
That was a lame episode. It was like Seth had a chip on his shoulder and packed the show with questionable material, but didn't bother making it funny.
I'm a freedom of speech absolutist, but I won't bother to fight for junk like this.
It was more than 20 years ago, so the details escape me, but the thing they were doing that Sunday was sort of a ceremony in which members were recommitting themselves to the congregation.
I checked them out some years back. I went to a UU church one Easter and they never even mentioned Jesus. But like any other church they want you to join and give money so they can own a building.
Right. And eating before going to sleep can result in reflux disease, which I learned the hard way. When I was in my twenties I would eat a big meal before bed and now I have Barret's esophagus.
