Great advice, thanks!
Actually prior to checking this, I went into the BIOS and disabled the initalization of the secondary IDE controlled (my cdrom) and Windows loaded much quicker.
After checking the event log, I did see many logs of failed cdrom startups which appeared to result in a...
I disabled the cd-rom in the bios and it still loaded up slowly. I really don't understand why my box would bneed to be formatted - I've only had it for about 4-5 months.
Well it started a few days ago when my CD-RW stopped working. I'd had the CDRW a while, but when it stopped reading discs, the next time i booted up it was slow. I read somewhere that this may be because windows is trying to initialize the CDRW but has problems? it still shows it in My Computer...
Not sure what mobo I have. It's a dell 8300 - chipset 875p. Ididn't want to say it was a Dell because some peopel are so brand loyal that they despise other companies. Regardless...
Also I do have HT and it is enabled.
(posted this in the wrong forum before - sorry)
I'm on a P4 2.6c with WinXP Pro.

Tom's did an article on printers but didn't include the PSC1350. Instead it only included its older counterpart the 1210. Does anyone have any experience regarding the difference between these two printers? TIA!
I remember that when buying memory for notebooks, you must buy a certain CL rating on the memory. Is this true for Desktops? Do I need CL rating 3 for the memory to work, or can I purchase a faster speed stick of memory? I'm currently looking through info sheets on Dell.com, but haven't found...
I looked through all of OM's Epson rebates (Easily done by changing the number at the end...click on the $50 rebate, then play with the numbers.) and there was no CX3200 rebate. I did find one last month that expired on 10/31. So basically...
Since OM isn't specifically running the current...
Hmm. On Newegg I'm definitely seeing some single pc3200 512mb chips that are 32x8. Interesting. I think I'll just get crucial to be safe instead of saving 5 bucks.
I was looking at newegg and I saw some memory with 32x8, some 64x64, etc. Do these numbers have an effect on performance? Is bigger better? What do they mean exactly? Some type of configuration type? TIA
The 3200 would be hot at $30. I'm just worried about the $30 Epson rebate. It says on the form "Some retailers may require their own coupon. Please check with retailers."
Hmm.

In the fine print it says that some retailers may have their own forms, and if they do, you have to use that. Is OM one of those retailers, and if so, will this rebate not fly? Any experienced Rebate folk know?
Yea I have it on. And basically what I've noticed is the larger the font, the worse the text suffers around its edges. Bleh. Thanks for the tips anyway.
Thats too bad on the verticle viewing option.
I have a 9800np and was using the Omega drivers. Thinking that might have been the problem, I just uninstalled them and installed the newest Catalyst drivers. Unfortunately, bold text is still entirely unimpressive. Ive got my resolution set at...
When twisting the monitor 90 degress, the refresh rate seems to slow down considerably. Pages appear to load much slower. Often you will see the page load slowly from top to bottom...
Has anyone had this problem and/or know of a way to fix it? It makes the monitor almost unusable in this...
I overclocked my 9800np Samsung 3.3ns memory to 420/347 (lowered from initial artifacts at 440/360) and am wondering if it could be running too hot. I don't want to shorten the life on the card.
Aquamark score went from 37500 to 43500, a nice improvement.
If you visit the Dimension message boards and read the Monitor forum, you will see many threads complaining about 1703 ghosting. I personally would opt for a 20ms or 16ms panel.
Dell currently has 20% off most items (excluding DELL products) at their SB S&P site. You can find the coupon at...
Assuming it will be used for a fair amount of gaming (not alot, but on occasion. A few times a week) which of the following is of the highest quality?
I made a side by side comparison of a few monitors here.
Doesn't sound like a hot deal. But it DOES have DVI and the contrast ration is 500:1 with a standard 25ms response time. 1280x1024 @ 75hz. Seems like great specs for the price.
