IBM T42 vs Dell Inspiron 9300

This should work in Linux right? I'm thinking it would as it seems the Prism 3 chipset is supported. Would there be any problems with the USB interface?

My T41 is a TI PCI-4520. Don't know anything about your card, sorry. I'd say look for a driver for the card or try finding someone on the net that has a similar problem. Try google's groups search.

Just Ordered a Thinkpad T41

I'll bring this post back alive with pictures and my impression when I get it. Probably will be a month though. It is the 2379DJU and it's on backorder. Came out to just above 2 grand including Thinkpad Protection Program and tax. Not excited about dropping the money but this thing should be...

Um no.. or at least not at the moment. :) The T41p is on sale. You can get it for 3K plus tax/shipping without a G wireless card and 100 more for that. It is arguably the BEST notebook you can buy at the moment. Light, small, awesome battery life, PM 1.7, 512 std 333 RAM, 14" 1400 display...

I know what you are saying. You click on their "as low as" price and you get a different configuration that costs 600 bucks more or something. Then you need to completely strip it down for their displayed price. And sometimes you can't quite get there.

I've been comparing a Lattitude D600 and a T41. Similar size. The IBM does better on battery life. Especially with the high capacity. Build quality on the IBM is reportedly better. This is a big deal to me. Keyboard is better also. Another biggie. If you want to go all out get a T41p with the...

Problems with a VAIO Laptop

How old is the battery. Sounds like the battery has lost its life. And since your not getting power the computer is shutting down. Does it shut down while plugged in to the wall? If its not then its not overheating.

Yes I am looking at the SXGA+. I'd like to see HDD capacities go up a little without price increase. Would be nice to have a 60 gig instead of the 40 gig. (5400 RPM of course.) I also think the port placement is better on the side than back. Thanks for all the info.

The express models... at least the T41s I looked at included std 3 year warranty. If you don't mind me asking what kind of a discount did you get? Also to everyone who owns one, did you get the Thinkpad protection warranty to cover accidental damage?

Thanks. These are exactly the things I want to know. Keep em coming! :) UltraWide, About the X24.. it uses a seperate "dock" for internal CD drives right? How do you like that? I'm wanting to go with something small but keep an internal drive. I've pretty much settled on a T41 as of now...
