I know what its down to, but memory is only one part of the whole system.. it will make a difference.. could be a few fps when at 1024*768 and above... I would buy it not for the gaming side but just the system stability
Agreed.. won't be that when the system is struggling to keep the rails at a constant voltage or your computer blows up! Well maybe the last is a bit over the top but you get what I mean!
Memory CAS latency does make a real world difference... increases memory bandwidth etc... however higher CAS rating dimms are theoritically more stable from heat and high FSB due to the higher quality of chips. When I had my T'Bird I used cheap memory, and Sisoft looked as if it had been...
Try dropping the moniter to its lowest settings (refresh res ect)... or even try booting into DOS or enter the BIOS.... if the monitor is still the same the tube is on the way out mate..
Whip the battery out, should hopefully clear CMOS settings.... try the drive on its own IDE cable. Ensure that if the drive has any jumpers on it that it is set to automatic or Master for the cable....
