The BIOS for this mobo is less than well layed out... I don't see anything about cool 'n' quiet in the bios but there is a smart fan control which I have disabled. The hsf fan did come with a manual adjuster but when this first started happening it was the first thing I removed but the issue...

When I tried MBM in the past on this mobo it had issues determining the correct sensors for the voltages and I didn't know which ones to specify manually.

Well I went and bought a multimeter. I'm not sure if this is an accurate way of testing but I just tested a molex connector. 5v was at 5.2 constant (adjusted it to 5v even with the antec truecontrol) and 12v was 12.25v (adjusted it to 12v even). Now if I could only figure out why my cpu fan...

My thoughts too, I can understand it not reading the right voltage (being low or high) but fluctuating like that is just not normal in any circumstance (if the psu was good and I wasn't having any other problems, which I am having)

I just installed a 6800 nu, now my computer wont detect my drives

You might want to check how the current power supply connects to the motherboard and how it fits in the case. Unless it's specifically a regular type you're going to have a hard time finding an aftermarket power supply that will work in that Dell.

Bah - moved to a new house now my internet crawls

I was in the same situation. The reason this happens is because in an area of new houses they use splitters to get more lines out of the actual copper wires. They take a pair of copper wires and install a device on it which allows it to create two separate lines, the problem with these devices...

CPU fan randomly shutting off (reboot fixes)

I don't see how it could possibly be the fan. If it stops working, I shut down the system and turn it back on and the fan instantly restarts. I've tried unplugging the cpu fan power from the motherboard and plugging it back in while computer is on and it doesn't restart it. Only a system...

The only problem with this is that it could take up to 2 hours or more before it actually shuts off, it's completely random.

It has a "Qfan Smart Control" however this is disabled (and even if it was enabled it shouldn't completely shut off the fan, just slow it down or speed it up depending on load).

EIDE to SATA

You don't actually need to create an image of the drive, ghost allows you to do a straight drive copy from one to the other, I believe you can also find a free (legal) trial version of ghost 2003 on their page somewhere that will let you do this. Try searching google for ghost 2003 trial

Should I upgrade my video card?

*shakes 8ball* sources say no. I'm assuming you meant 9800 pro? because a 9600xt to 9800 regular would be pointless. I just upgraded from a 9700 pro to a 6800gt and it makes a HUGE difference.

Is there any chance this could be power supply related? My motherboard only shows "OK" for the voltages in BIOS (doesn't show an actual voltage reading) and I couldn't get MBM to recognize the motherboard in order to view the voltages. Is there another program i can use to monitor the voltages...

WD Raptor SATA Hd's showing up as removable in XP

The reason you're getting the "remove this device" is because with the proper hardware, SATA drives are hot-swappable. I don't know of a way to disable that feature (unless maybe there's a bios setting to disable it).

Master/Slave on DVDRW?

You don't want to put an optical drive on the same ide cable as your hard disk. I can't say this for sure, but almost everywhere I've heard/read that the hdd will then operate only as fast as the slowest device on the chain (the ATA/33 optical drive).

is MSI a bad mobo manufacturer ?

I don't know where you get your information from but Dell desktops do not use MSI motherboards. The video cards aren't either (though they may use some MSI video cards, not ALL of them are MSI).

2001FP's usb hub and power down

Ok, what's the point of having the hub be based on the monitor being turned on? If you turn off the monitor it turns off the usb hub. Do they just expect you to leave it on 24/7 and use the monitor timeout feature of Windows? I haven't used the hub because of this specific reason.

If you think about it though, that's where the benefit of the dual bios comes in, if it doesn't work, simply flash the secondary bios back over the bad one :) back to my initial question since I never got a detailed response, someone posted that they were able to use a zalman 7000 on this mobo...

The mounting brackets for the Zalman 7000 require four mounting holes spaced in a square pattern (the typical mounting holes) and then the zalman 7000 mounts to those brackets with the two parallel holes. I still don't see how you can use those two parallel holes for the mounting brackets.

New router (Netgear WGT624) causing problems in Starcraft

Zoop zoop - is it better to turn a monitor completely off...

Only reason I turn mine off is because it's in my bedroom and I'd rather not wait for the glow of the monitor to turn itself off when I'm trying to get to sleep, but that's the nice thing about LCD's, not having to wait for them to come on or change resolutions like most CRT's, almost instant...

you have to go to disk management and change it, right click on my computer, choose manage, then choose disk management, right click on the G: partition in the right pane and choose change drive letter and choose what you want it to be

No need to create the new partitions, during the ghost disk-to-disk copy you can change the partition sizes on the fly. I've done disk-to-disk successfully on XP, even going from and IDE to a SATA drive.
