performance of intel extreme graphics card

Actually, I'm sure UT2004 will run on it because it includes a software renderer for cards without hardware T&L. You could concievably run it on a TNT.

Which is better? Firewire data transfer or Capturing video from source?

I'm rather partial to the firewire method as it allows the camera to be controled by the PC. Also, firewire is just one cable and analog would require two, one for video and one for audio.

Really how is important is response time on LCD

1600x1200x85... I'll never go back to anything lower. It's a shame I can only run 2038x1536 at 60hz... otherwise I'd use that instead~! The problem is that it's a HUGE problem to adjust settings... Moving one corner out involves fidling with 68 geometry controls! By the way, response time...

I doubt it! Was the PII twice as fast as the pentium on release? Was the P3 twice as fast as the PII on release? Was the Ti4600 twice as fast as the Ti500 on release? I doubt it!

Forceware 53.03 gives FM the finger

Yea! Shame on Intel! SSE2 may perform FPU calculations 3x as fast but thats only because it sacrifices a tiny bit of floating point precision. Ugh. Don't you see what Nvidia is doing? Any benchmark where scores change on a daily basis without a change in image quality is not a legitimate...

Anyone have an XFX 5900 ?

You get a stable 519? Like, no pauses in gameplay or anything? A stable 1Ghz? No random crashes? Billion loops of 3dMark? I envy you sir. Are you doing any special cooling?

Anyone have an XFX 5900 ?

I haven't had a tremendous amount of luck with getting the 2.2 ns chips that came on my Gainward 5900u over 945 Mhz. 950 Seems to be just barely unstable. I'll get a game crash every 6 hours or so. It's a shame, I wanted 475/950. jm0ris0n <- Private Message

New vid card in a 1x AGP slot = ???

Leadtek TV2000XP and Dscaler

Dscaler works fine with my Leadtek TV2000XP Deluxe. I don't remember having to change anything to get it to work.

Looking for best $60 upgrade, video or CPU?

For $60 you can probably find a Geforce4 Ti 4200 (avoid the MX cards like the plauge) on ebay. But in your situation the faster CPU would probably be a better investment.

4xagp VS 8xagp Whats the difference?

The AGP slot is used primarily for swapping texture data out of main memory. Most high end cards have tons of onboard texture memory, so they don't need to use the added bandwith of AGP8x. If you toss in a 64MB card and run a game with high resolution textures, it makes a much larger difference.

Looking for a Specific FX5950 vs. 9800XT Bench!

It showed up on slashdot about a week or two ago. Something about building the ultimate workstation. Found it: http://firingsquad.com/hardware/building_gaming_opteron_2003_Part1/page6.asp It just says that even with Nvidia's 2d and 3d GPU speeds, the 5900u does better at 2d.

doom 3 to be capped @ 60 FPS

And before someone mentions that movies only run at 24fps and TV at 29.97 fps, it's a very different situation. When you pan a camera around really quickly, you get motion blur. If you're playing a game at 24 fps and you turn quickly, you get choppiness because you don't see what happened...

Dual Mointors Affecting Performance

My feelings: If you're running in clone mode (same resolution and display on each screen) it shouldn't make TOO much of a difference, but I'm sure you'll encounter a slight performance drop. If you're running a span, then it'll effectively double the number of rendered pixels, that'll be a huge...

Cheap 8 pipeline card

The ATI cards are 8x1 cards. The FX cards are 4x2 cards. 8x1 wipes the floor with Nvidia at single texturing, but the 4x2 easily leaves the 8x1 design behind in multi-texturing.

Asus Ti-4200 - 2 cards different MDL #

Actually a combination of AGP 8x and 256 MB is worthless. The AGP speed would be great if you had hardly any memory, and the memory would be great if you had hardly any AGP speed. The 64MB Ti4200 benefits a lot more from 8x AGP then the 128MB. I read a review on a PCI 5600 256 recently that...

WHAT! R9600AIW has no DVI Ports?

I'm a big fan of the 1xVGA, 1xDVI, 1xTV out... but you couldn't fit that on a single slot AND have a tuner. Maybe ATI should go with a dual slot design! The Asus P4P800 has the AGP slot a full space away from the nearest PCI so you don't even lose a PCI slot!

Viewer for VIVO?

http://www.dscaler.org/ is an absolutly incredible (free) program for viewing video. It's compatibility is kind of limited because it doesn't use WDM drives so it may not work for you. Doesn't record well. Otherwise iuVCR (less then free) is a great product for recording (sucks for viewing).
