ASUS A8N SLI mobo temp question

I'm a bit perplexed by my temp readouts: CPU temp: 35 deg C MOBO temp: 36 deg C (96 deg F, ambient temp is 72 F) I have an antec P180 case with 4 120mm fans blowing (in front, out back). Where is the thermal sensor on the ASUS mobo, that it would be reading such a high temp?

15k RPM SCSI drives (working pulls): Worth it to get a controller card for my new box?

It is an older 36Z15 model drive. But even so, though its application specific for sure, I don't see how a Seagate 7200.9 drive with a 11ms average seek could outperform a 15k rpm scsi with average seek of 4ms. I'm not just a gamer, I spend all day doing content creation, photoshop-ing...

Sorry, forgot to mention that these are U160 drives. The only PCIe SCSI RAID cards I've been able to find are $500+, and I'm not sure it's worth the investment...

SCSI and RAID

I've currently got a webserver serving a php/mysql bulletinboard with two 15,000 RPM U320 SCSI drives, non RAID - one drive is OS & Apache, the other dedicated for MySQL databases. Will I benefit at all by going to a RAID1 setup with two 10k RPM drives? How about a RAID5 setup with 3 10k...

distributed.net "pause at CPU temp" - does it work?

In the distributed.net client there are options to shut down the client at user-defined CPU temps... Has anyone gotten this to work, or know of a source for more info? Can't seem to get it to work with my epox 8kha+/1600+ Thanks -

Digital Vibrance Question

I used to use DVC on my "old" geforce3 and loved it - now I've got an ATI - is there any 3rd party software I can use to gain a similar effect? I've tried moving the color sliders around in ATI's advance color settings, but that just screws things up and doesn't increase my color saturation...

RTCW... help...

I had the same problem until I defragged the hard drive partition that RTCW was sitting on. My RTCW install was seriously fragmented. I've got the same hardware config.

Dual Monitor DVI Question

Sorry, not going to work. Do what I did - return the PNY and get an ATI Radeon8500LE from newegg.com - the ati's dual display support is fantastic.

PNY Geforce 3 Ti 200 goin crazy on me...

Exactly the same thing here as far as the IE window - the video only goes beserk when dragging around an IE window (for about 10 seconds). I avoided ATI back in the day for lack of driver support, but I just ordered an 8500 - screw this Nvidia/XP crap.

Questions about my Visiontek Gforce GTS

Yes, you're FPS is really 99 w/o vertical sync. Turning it on limits your fps to your monitor's refresh rate (60hz). It'll look better because when your video is timing each frame with a monitor refresh, you won't get many of the artifacts.

ck1016: Glad you got yours to work with the 21.83 drivers. I'm curious about the VIA drivers - I've heard others say that the latest 4 in 1 drivers help the problem, but from what I see, the 4 in 1 drivers don't install any video-releated drivers in XP...

gunbuster: Yes, I tried the autoalign feature - no luck Jen: With an analog connection, I noticed some pretty bad ghosting in RTCW. I'm using a Geforce2 GTS-V and an athlon XP 1600+. I don't know if dreday is using DVI - I'm sure that would help things out a lot. Any input, dreday?

Dudes, Nothing compares to that new Radeon ATI TV Tuner card out there.. Forgot the name, but definately check it out. I just saw it in action - it blows away my G400 Max in picture qualilty, quake3 frames, and it's got a full suite of TV, video capture, DVD, etc....

New PHP MySQL board - AWESOME

Until recently, I thought FuseTalk and CF was the only way to go- then I came across VBulletin at www.vbulletin.com I'm not affiliated with them in any way, but I must say it's the best I've seen. Totally customizable templates, a UBB import feature, and very low cpu use makes this a winner...
