I believe it would be formatted as a Mac drive and Windows won't see it. There is a program called "MacDrive" that is supposed to allows Windows users access Macintosh formatted drives. This may be worth checking out.
Actually it's not that the computer is crashing, rather it seems the video signal is being lost completely now. The computer is still running because if I put a disk in the drive I can hear it being mounted. Oh well... hopefully they'll agree to the overnight Air shipping, because if it goes...

The Samsung 173T is a great monitor with both analogue and DVI inputs. I just picked on up in Canada for $599 Canadian. Not sure what they are going for in the U.S. right now, but $599 Canadian works out to about $457 in US dollars.
