I still have this memory timing problem. At boot up, it shows 333hmhz, and PCmark04 says my memory frequency is 333. But the cpu-z program shows 208.3 mhz on the memory tab, and 200mhz on the SPD tab. I have set my bios to overclock my Opteron 146 to 2500, just like the instructions in...

Anyone else having trouble getting any audio whatsoever? WHen I plug in a pair of headphones or any speakers into any of the rear audio jacks, I do get the realtek program but I can't even play music or anything. Very strange.

Opteron 146/148/150+165/170/175 Mega Coupon Sale Again @ MONARCH

Ordered my 146 on Monday and it still says processing order. But I'm waiting it out, for less than a 3200+ I can't pass that up. To their credit , I had my 165 in less than about a week, but I did pay for 2nd day fedex on that one.

Thanks renethx. I'm almost 100% certain I have the memory in 1&2, I'll have to check tonight. Also, I noticed when I leave memclock mode at auto, it does say mem clock 400 on boot, but I thought I have to change it to 166 in order to OC?? When I change it to 166 like in the OC recipes...

Can't get my venice 3200+ to run at 2500, it does 2480 if I turn up the ddr voltage to 2.7. I have 1gb corsair value ram. I plan to put an OPty 146 in there, do you guys think it will do 2500 easy or does it sound like my memory is causing this problem? btw-my memory is supposed to be 400...

Yes, and thanks. I couldn't download anything from MSI cause their website is dog slow when it even works. And nvidia didn't have the driver on their site. Anyway, got it. thanks again, will install it tonight. So far none of my tv-out works, s-video doesn't have any picture at all...

Well, another mystery. When I push the switch up and down real fast, the lcd came on and stayed on. But I'm afraid to close the lcd again because maybe the switch is bad. But if that were so then wouldn't it hybernate if it thought the switch was closed, instead of just going black. I'm...

No flicker ever. Just suddently happened. But I found out a strange thing just now. When I push the screen close button real fast the screen flashes on quickly and off again. SO this makes me think something else is wrong besdes the bulb, possibly the inverter. I don't know what happens...

Well, it's not a true HTPC I guess. I may be doing light gaming, definitely video encoding and editing & burning dvd's when not watching tv w/ it. Mainly media stuff & PVR.

I've seen some benchmarks comparing various opteron to Athlon, etc. But I can't find it anymore. I bought an Opteron 146 just becasue it was cheap, but for about the same money an Athlon 3700 or 3500 might be a better choice if I remember the benchmark results. I've never overclocked...

How about overclocking the Opteron 146, would the performance still be better on the venice 3200+? I can't decide whether to get the 146 or the Venice 3200+, the 146 is only about $20 more on sale at Monarch.

Well, the biggest screen (17")& best value for a 3.06 is the hp zd7010. I don't know that much about it otherwise, except that you can get one for around $1300 with the 10% hp coupon. I'm not sure about the resolution though, it might not be high enough for you.

Upgrading Processors in laptops?

On the zd7000 series, it will only cost you $100 to go from a 2.66p4m to a 3.06ghz, but another $200 on top to go to 3.2ghz. So the 3.06 is a great value, at least on the zd7000. On the other hand, upgrading the 8500 dell to a 2.6 from a 2.2 will cost you $300, go figure. the zd7000 is by far...
