Need Advice: Moving to Japan

Well, basically, if you have no contacts here, then you gotta have a degree. It's required by the Japanese government to issue you a visa if you're getting a work visa (maybe depending on the field). The work-around is to come here and go to school on that visa and adjust it to a work visa, or...

Boot probs...

I plugged the monitor back into the computer after unplugging it to run it on a laptop. It froze right in the middle of a screensaver. Must've got a shock, for all I can figure out.

Boot probs...

I had the same problem with my new Gigabyte board. Did everything you mentioned, then bought a couple of the PCI POST analyzers and it said the board was not reading the BIOS at all. Not sure what the problem is exactly, but I bought a new board and the rig started right up and ran.

The SATA drives have their own style of power connector. Most drives come with an adapter, and some newer powersupplies come with the SATA power connection built into the PSU. In your case, I would just use round cables for the IDE and forget converting, I don't think you'll gain anything from...

No beeps at all. The Ram LED comes on and the fans spin up, but the HD does not spin up, the monitor will not come out of sleep mode, and my POST card BIOS light never comes on. I'm trying to narrow it down between the CPU and the board (blown BIOS)? I replaced the CMOS battery also, no change.

Thanks for the response! Yep, cleared CMOS with PSU unplugged (tried twice), no beeps of any sort, only have one monitor, but it works with all my laptops, so no problem there. Looking at the caps around the AGP slot, it almost looks like the tops were beginning to swell. One near the RAM...
