Onboard lan download speeds slowe then pci lan card

check your network configuration too, how do both the computers connect, is your cabling quality questionable? does one computers cable run parrelel to power lines or any other possible interference?

Changed IP's on a wan link, cant ping /telnet now ?

it was the fire wall (pix 525) between the 3662 and 4006 connection went me -> 4006 -> 525 -> 3662 -> 3745 my tracerts were dieng at the 4006, so i figuredit was an inside route issue but it turned out to be a fire wall block.. lol

I'm taking baby steps twards setting up OSPF, and in an attempt to create good summerisation I'm restructuring my IP scheme, on my first wan link change I screwed up Tacacs, Cant ping the address, cant telnet to it. I can telnet in if i use an address on the inside of far router someone slap me...

Multihoming of multiple unencrypted wireless broadband connections available?

I tryed to do the same thing @ home, its a no go.. :( only way i could see it happening is if some linux guru got bored and made an app that did load sharing.. but as of right now there are no affordable ways to do it

Need to check the bandwith on my network, are there any tools that can will graph this out for me? doesnt even need to do that,i can punch numbers into excel.. just need something that can track the bandwith usage at various points around my netwwork so i can figure out where the bottlenecks are...

ahh thats lame, I dont see why it cant be done cheap/easly its just simple load balancing, hell you can even do it as simply as sending every other packet to a different connection But ya i was hoping to combine the two bandwiths and get more speed out of my conenction(s)

I get free internet from my apartment (wireless connection to a cable modem) i want to hook up a DSL connection and plug it into my onboard nic then bridge the connections via software (i think this is posible, not sure) anyone done something like this before? im running windows2000pro or XP pro

How to get the most out of my network?

easyest fix would be to get a bigger switch (imo) gig would be nice, but not really needed (plus thats a lot of gig cars you'd have to buy, but if you got the $$ go for it) that should even out what ever inter switch problems your having (which is all it sounds like is going on )

Luckly everything that is windows 2000, is currently at SP3 or 4 (mostly at 4) so as soon as i nail this down and slap it in a logon script i'll be good to go, going to spend tomrrow working on it, the weird thing is the paths that im modifying registry at keys doesnt exist.. running the .reg...

My domain is 80%+ windows2k (or better), domain controller (PDC) is still NT so i have to work with registry edits ( i guess?) to configure auto update on all the clients, at least thats what i got out of the .doc file i linked to earlyer we are slowly cleaning out all the old NT stations, but...

thats the great thing about SUS, it installs reguardless of the users rights I've installed the SUS server and aproved all the sec updates, now im working on the group policys, i'll let you know how it turns out as i porgress

we are about 80% migrated from a mixed environment (nt 2k & xp) to a fully Win2k+ environment (not running AD yet though) I'll take a closer look at SUS today, maybe give it a trial run. Should help a lot with the majority of my client computers. thanks for the info

STP vs. UTP. What cable do I need?

Plus its hard to find the stuff! if your really worried about it, just make sure none of your cat5 is running parrelel to any powerlines /flourecent lights.. that helps a bunch with induction/noise

We have SMS and are VERY unhappy with it, sounds like SUS is the same way what was the issues with SUS that you had to work through? I have 550 clients and TRUST ME, i need SOMETHING! lol, its a pain to log into them individualy and update

Patch pannels really are just for testing / easy reconfiguration. i dunno if you've priced a good quality patch pannel, but they are not cheap! plus you will have to learn how to punch down the cat5 in the back (if you dont already know how) really more trouble than its worth for a home...
