If your gonna be running the computer constantly which i assume you will be. i would recommend sticking with intel. due to the fact intel is abit more stable and they dont run as hot as amds tend to unless you plan to put a mini jet engine on top of your cpu :D
Check the jumpers to see if there set up right... also check the bios to make sure the motherboards picking the drive up correctly..thats all i can think of at the moment i had the same problem once with a quantum drive i bought
Well i dont know if the win98 thing is true being i never really hooked up the wire for the soundcard cause i never had a use for it... but when you buy your cd rom,dvd rom or whatever it should come with the soundcard wire...
