* OK I just found these results.

Now to just find a comparison between the 36, 74, and the 150 GB (ADFD model) Raptors.
MplsBob :)
There are no results at www.storagereview.com for the 36 Gb (ADFD version with 16 mb cache).
This might be because this 36 Gb Raptor (ADFD version) is the newest Raptor to come out.

* In your last communication you did not directly insult me or talk down to me just because I had a different opinion and I do appreciate this.
* You simply stated your opinion.
I understand your point (if it is true) that the 8MB cache version of the 36 GB Raptor might...

You insist you are not speculating, but then you do speculate about the 'exact thing' that would make the 36 GB ADFD version faster than or around the same speed as the 150 GB Raptor. (short stroked platter)
"Do you even know what the word speculation means. We are not...
Does anybody have a 36 GB ADFD Raptor that they can run some benchies on?
This will allow more than speculation.
Does anybody know what platter the 36 GB Raptor is using for sure?
People are assuming that it uses a different platter, but is actually possible that it is not.
I do not...
:) It seems like MS Dawn and DeLerium have at least put some thought into what they said. Where is everybody else's benchies? What DeLerium is saying is exactly what I was wondering about to begin with! The 36 GB (ADFD version) Raptor could be the fastest Raptor. Why would WD produce a unique...
Just to let you know...
NONE of those benchmarks seem to be testing the NEW (740ADFD) 74 GB drive with 16 mb cache or the NEW (360ADFD) 36 GB drive with 16 mb cache. In fact they all seem to be testing the 150 GB Raptor against the older 74 GB and 36 GB versions of the Raptor that used 8 MB...
Thanks MS Dawn! This is exactly what I was wondering about.
It seems like people are quick to assume that the flagship 150 GB product would be the fastest. But this is not always the case. I do understand what you are saying about how the smaller Raptor will fill up faster. I was thinking...
Does anybody have any benchmarks or reviews of the NEW 36 GB Raptor (ADFD)?
Does anybody know if they are actually using different platters in the various models? Does the Raptor 150 use different platters than the Raptor 74 etc.?
It seems like people are assuming things but no one has...
Hey does anybody have any actual reviews or benchmarks testing the NEW "ADFD" version of the 36 GB Raptor to support their suppositions?
If all of the NEW Raptor drives are using the same platters internally, then how can you assume that the largest drive will be the fastest?
If they...
Has anybody come across a review or benchmarks comparing the NEW Raptor 36 GB against the Raptor 150 Gb? They are both ADFD models. The actual specs for cache as well as access times are exactly the same. I think the NEW 36 GB Raptor may be faster than the Raptor 150 GB.
Hi Thanks for your response.
Did you know that the New 36 Gb Raptor (WD360ADFD) is based on the same drive mechanics as the Raptor 150 GB. It even has 16 MB cache. Notice the ADFD at the end of the model name. Since this drive is smaller it makes me wonder if it may be even faster than the...
What WD Raptor is really the fastest?
Is it the 36 GB WD360ADFD?
I know a lot of people think that the 150 GB raptor is the fastest.
But I think that the new 36 GB WD360ADFD may be the fastest.
Does anybody know for sure?
Actually, I think that the Raptor 360ADFD 36 GB, and 740ADFD 74 GB are a little faster than the 150 GB Raptor. So... in raid 0 mode they should also be faster at least with large files...
:D Where is it? It seems as if OCZ has squashed even any discussion of it... I want my $300 phase change cooling system! LOL. Maybe they are going to wait long enough for everybody to forget that it was supposed to be $300 and then charge $700 LOL. Oh well, I guess it was just too good to be...
Vista installs the drivers for it through windows update, so it must be supported. :) The pvr 150/500 works great in Windows Vista BUT... the tv part of Vista is not yet ready for primetime use. It is buggy and crashes...
As stated before... "I will not be surprised if conroe ends up costing twice as much in the retail channel as what is being stated at the current time. It might take a while for the prices to stabilize and then fall back down towards the prices that are being quoted at the present time..."
In theory the pvr500mce should be better. It has the functionality of 2 devices while taking up only 1 pci slot. furthermore, you only need one cable line to support 2 tv tuners resulting in clearer reception for the tv picture. But I think there are some serious problems with the pvr500mce. A...
The Sceptre actually has better specs than the Dell. DBSX... Do you like your new Sceptre??? I noticed that it is on sale at Costco for $319.99 after rebate!

With Media Center 2005 Operating System and a DVD codec like Cyberlink I am pretty sure that you would get closed captioning! You also might get closed captioning with BeyondTV and SageTV software as well...
I use the dfi expert with a 2gb patriot kit pc3200 timings 2-3-2-5. I use the 12/07 bios and the 2 orange slots. I have an X2 at 2.8ghz. If I was you I would find a 2gb kit that is 'guaranteed' (known) to work with the Expert. Because it seems to be 'picky' overall. I got the dfi expert over the...
What power supply are you using? Try one stick of memory in the orange slot furthest away from the cpu. Try one videocard. make sure all three of the power connectors on the mainboard are plugged into...
