    Home beer brewing

Definitely find a local shop to deal with, and stick with starsan for your sanitizer. All grain brewing and bulk hops is the cheapest method, but more time consuming then the LMD/DME brewing methods, but you also have more control with all grain. I would highly suggest moving towards all grain...

McD: Fish parts (aka fillet 'o fish) vs cow parts with soy bits (aka McDouble)

I used to get them when I was little, but after getting several in a row that had hair in the tartar sauce I quit ordering them....really makes me wonder if someone was making it extra "special" at that location.

Any glue that can form a Instant bond in 0F temps?

How about hot glue? You could also try using two separate glues, maybe super glue with a spray of insta-set to have an immediate bond around the edges to hold the part in place while a stronger glue/epoxy sets up.

    AnandTech Forums - XenForo Feedback

I knew things had been running too smoothly after the forums were sold off, and now we have something that screams of a poor rendition of something facebook would put out. I know this is just the initial phase of the new forums, and will remain skeptically optimistic for a better skin on this...

New forum software? I'm feeling anxious, nervous, fretting

Wow, I can't say that I enjoy this new look one bit, it is almost painful to look at. It really looks like something created by a 2 year old for other 2 year olds. I understand change does occur, but wow, this is not a change for the better, just another shiny, ugly bobble for the masses...

Name the things, these things, these mysterious things

Maybe some sort of burner and deflector plate setup? Fuel gas would come out of the slits and the other piece would be mounted just above to act as a deflector plate and probably be adjustable by turning? Any pictures of the backs of the parts?

Looking for 17 inch light gaming/work laptop, ~$1500

My boss in after a new laptop and knowing him, he will need it to last 5-6 years, or longer if he can get by with it. So, budget is around the $1500 range, but can fluctuate some as needed. He will be doing graphics and audio work with it, so I am thinking something along the lines of a...

sold my house. do i get to keep tv wall mounts?

Some consider them to be fixtures, to light fixtures and say that they are part of the house/sale. I have a family member who went through that when he sold his house and was more then a little aggravated when the realtor informed him that he couldn't take his nice, expensive wall mount with...

Millionaire withdraws $200,000, bank calls police on him

That was generally the point I was getting at in my original post. If he wanted that kind of cash, chances are he had to call the bank ahead of time, if not actually go in and setup the withdrawal. That right there should have been more then enough to keep the bank from calling the cops on him...

Millionaire withdraws $200,000, bank calls police on him

Heck, I am amazed that the bank even had that much cash on hand, my guess is that he notified them well in advanced about wanting to make that withdrawal.

Why are t-shirts and longsleeves so flimsy lately? Where to find heavier quality?

I am a big fan of Dickies work wear, I have several of there button up long sleeve shirts in black that I have had for 5+ years and countless washing's and they have not noticeably faded, nor gained any mysterious holes like I have seen here lately in other brands of clothes. Same goes for there...

I prefer older tech -> Turning into a dinosaur

I just wish you could get a decent smart phone with an actual key pad vs the touchscreen keyboard, well at-least outside of the blackberry, as I never really did like them. I can't type for crap on my S5 phone, and then the stupid slide crap thing that happens while trying to type and throws...

Yet another health insurance premium rant thread - 2015

Yeah, my bottom of the barrel bcbs plan is increasing by 24.49%, just got the notice yesterday. I do see some cheaper plans for next year from molina, so maybe I will swap providers, or maybe I will just re-evaluate the fine for not having insurance...

Have you seen one of the $20 for 20 steak trucks?

We have an Iowa steaks around the corner from my shop and I managed to avoid them for a long time, but got taken on a box steaks for $20. I tried cooking one of them and noticed it had an odd, but not necessarily going bad smell, well one bite of that nasty shoe leather was enough to throw the...

Anyone remember the Beanie Baby craze? ie 250K USD beanie babies?

In line throttle valve for propane tank supply

I would suggest replacing the regulator with an adjustable version also. The current regulator should have a standard 1/4" NPT thread and be easy enough to replace. If you are unsure about this, take the hose and regulator assembly to your local propane supply house and tell them what you are...

Plumbing .... 3" copper drain pipe leaking

I didn't think about those rubber repair sleaves, and they do offer an additional plus of being available at home depot/lowes, or atleast should be. Though, the ones i am thinking about would still require cutting the pipe to slide it on.

Plumbing .... 3" copper drain pipe leaking

If it is the solder joint leaking, the best option is to solder it again. You could use some scrap plywood to protect the ajacent walls and floor from the heat and flame. I have my doubts, but if they make 3" sharkbite type fittings, you could cut out the elbow and easily replace it with those...

Best way to record a symphony orchestra for not a lot of money

If it's in a church, can she find out who normally handles the audio for the church? If so, have her contact him and see if they would be willing to come in and record the performance for her. Best way to record a symphony orchestra for not a lot of money

At that price, I would look into renting some basic equipment to do this, just look for any A/V rental companies in your area and be upfront with what you have to spend and what you are wanting to do. Another option, are you a regular member of a church? If so, they might loan you some...

    My Heater Broke...

It sounds like one of the bearings on the blower fan may have gone bad, in which case they are fairly simple to replace.
