The New Celeron is not half bad at all

Gigabit over AGP?

Via implemented a solution for their server orientated designs in the past that dropped a PCI-X bus off the AGP connection and forewent having AGP capability....so yes, i think it would be possible. However, most PCI Express x16 graphics suporting chipets arent going to have an AGP bus it seems...

anyone have an estimate for dual layer dvd burners?

The more optimistic manufacturers reckoned April apparently....personally i think it could be anything up to August before they really show. The major dissapointment for me is they are only going to be 2.4x speed in the dvd+ camp...the speed of pioneers dual layer dvd-r is an unknown but that...

how hard is it to run a e-mail server off a cable modem?

Asuming the sending smtp server had absolutely none, or a very small retry...many will retry sending for days or at least hours if they are unable to contact any of the MX servers listed for a domains DNS properties. That gives some amount of backup for a mailserver being down. The true backup...

Yup thats what i thought..can get within a whisker of that with 1Mbit...personally id probably stick with the 10Mbit because your gonna be server side limited quite a lot anyway, so think id rather have the ~3TB capability of the uncapped 10Mbit than the speed of the 100Mbit

BBB ? Your going to get the 100Mbit even though its supposed to have those insane monthly bandwidth caps on it ? I beleive at the time i read it i remember thinking I can even pull more BW usage per month on my 1Mbit than would be allowed on the 100Mbit..assuming the caps were correct.

There is a fairly modest fee for converting the line from ISDN back to normal, and if the line is then tested and found to be too poor to accept ADSL that gets refunded I believe....so no it wont cost a fortune to convert.

Who's got MX700 mice?

Oh, and i should add that eeven when the light starts blinking the performance is still satisfactory, and ive even seen me use the mouse almost an entire day with the led blinking, so it has extra stamina :)

If i pick it up in the morning, iltl usually last till last thing the NEXT night under heavy usage....so say 20hrs usage during 36hrs off its cradle. The batteries tend to work better if you fully charge them and fully deplete them a few times at the start.

An odd one - weight of external maxtor usb2/fw HD and its power brick ?

Yup, this first came to light 2-3months ago, so i imagine someone posted about it back then.... :D Still, tehres probably more reason to take notice now that there there actually IS 4x media floating about, so if youve got one of the older drives take note, becauseyou dont want to go toasting...

No time at all....this time round ;) I had it saved in a text file from some big thing that happened way back, i remember it taking a good 10mins or somthing to get right back then :P I think it needs a tongue hanging out for more effect though :D

Maxline Plus II in the UK? U320 Question

www.dabs.com The 200GB Maxline Plus II (id assume thats the 7200rpm) is in stock. The 250GB Maxline II (i assume this is just 5400rpm) is ordered upon request (at too high a price, especially compared to the 320GB which is only £12 more :P ) and the 320GB 5400rpm is listed with a long leadtime.

PCI graphics not work with Intel P4??

the i850 has a PCI bug which can cause problems with PCI vid cards...AFAIK thats part of the reason the P4 launch was delayed a month, but then they decided not to fix it and have no intention of....remember reading about it at the time and thinking 'damn' cause i used PCI for tri monitors...

Intel reveals hypethreading schedules - All 533MHz Pentium 4s will support it

I thinkthe article headline is wrong, since the 3.06 is meant to be the first with the actual HT-enabled setting....its the 533FSb chipsets that support it, not all 533FSB P4's.....if i take whats been said for weeks the correct way.

neutralizer, i had the same thing happen just last week...i got woke up at 6am by an alarm-like sound, which turned out to be my 46.1GB 75GXP dieing on me in spectacular screetch-click glory....it was from then on undetectable by the system just like yours. I was aware of the freezer trick but...
