Thanks for your suggestions! I am running Zone Alarm firewall, and I have (to the best of my ability) turned off the XP firewall, but I am never sure that I have disabled all instances of it.

Hi Navid: I am running the latest version of the free Zone Alarm, and I have, to the best of my ability, disabled the WinXP firewall. I am running Norton Antivirus, and it is up-to-date.

Sorry! I should have said that "The fact that your power supply is running tells you that it is receiving a "Power Good" signal from the motherboard, which means that the MOBO is NOT totally dead.

Hi Navid: Thanks for the helpful suggestion, appreciated. I followed your instructions and found that the file Isass.exe was making continuous reads, but I have been unable to find information on what Isass.exe is or what its function is in XP.

I installed SP-2 on a new system (Gigabyte K7 Triton, AMD 3200, 1 gig PC 3200, 160 gig SATA WD HD, Nvidia TI4600 video) and after installing SP-2, the hard drive activity light stays on continuously! Is there a fix for this problem, or will I have to remove the partition and reinstall the...
